Covid sequelae and poor lifestyle are two pretty big contributors

If I’m reading this right this won’t account for impacts of the pandemic and the burdens of long covid, as the data was taken from 2002 to 2020. I imagine numbers are likely to get revised upwards.

hm not sure, perhaps because the non-hospital medical care isn't treating patients effectively (overworked & overloaded) leading to the development of chronic issues

the population is also older, like other rich nations
