Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Wow I completely forgot about this distro. Might check it out. I remember liking it a lot but back when flatpaks were just becoming a thing. My main issue was no packages made for solus
There's been a few times I built from source but flatpak has been quite the blessing. Solus is also looking for more software maintainers, so if there's something not in their software center now that you want, it could be a good opportunity to get involved.
True. I've always wanted to contribute to an open source project in some way. I'ma try it out again and if I stick with it I just might put my foot into contributing.
