can you imagine if non-violent protestors supporting BDS were not brutalized, gassed, and jailed for their actions by the NYPD but violent pro-genocide, pro-israeli counter-protestors were arrested by the NYPD and charged?
it would be like 48 hours before some guy with mossad ties blew up a fucking building in manhattan, just as an over "how dare you!"
This is putting a lot of faith in the NYPD. They’d probably self organize to have their off duty colleagues attack the pro Palestine protestors while looking the other way if they weren’t allowed to do it in uniform.
Do we think they care enough who they’re brutalizing? I feel like you could sick them on the Zionists just as easily.
I guess maybe not the NYPD in particular since lots of them have been trained by the IDF
Cops in general treat right-wing protestors with kid gloves. The most "brutal" crackdown on right-wing protestors I've ever seen was the capital riot, where it seemed half the cops were in on it, protestors were allowed to just mill around, and all those arrested got tiny sentences. The only ones who got long sentences injured cops.
I don't really expect someone who isn't on-board with the rabid defense of the client state's ethnic cleansing program to get put in charge of the imperial core's largest militarized police force in the first place, honestly.
it was more like a "wow, wouldn't that be weird" / thought experiment.
