RULES (updated 01/22/25)
- Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
- Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
- Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
- Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
- No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
- Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

Hi, how's your week going?
Hey mate, my week's been great. I've just been brushing up on my Excel skills for my upcoming internship.
How's your week been?
Not great, got my first speeding ticket over the weekend. It was a tiny town in the middle of a highway. I strongly suspect that town gets a lot of its income from speeding tickets in a section where they rapidly lower the speed limit to 25 (4 lane road).
So I'm still seething about that.
25mph speed limit? That is incredibly low. Definitely something shady going on there.
What do you do for a living?
Yeah, 25, all the way from 65.
I'm a data engineer.
How's that going for you? Are you satisfied with your job?
Yeah, it's been good so far. The best part is that it's remote.
Oh that's the jackpot. How long have you been doing it for?
About a year
Interesting. So tell me more about yourself outside your job and getting speed tickets. Are you more introverted or extroverted?
More introverted I would say.
I got the speeding ticket on the way back home from a hiking and camping weekend trip. So, there's one thing I do outside of work. I also like playing open world RPGs and 2d platformers.
What are your hobbies?
Okay, i think I've narrowed down the ages a fair bit now. Camping is hella fun. Where did you go camping?l, and how was the experience?
I like reading about philosophy, particularly philosophy of religion. I play chess as well, but not as much as i used to in high school. I don't play that much video games, so i prefer to hang out with friends anywhere really. I also like to gamble, I know it's degenerate, but I'm not addicted. I do it just for fun, and mostly when I'm with friends. I watch anime from time to time as well. In fact, it was Kakegurui that influenced my love for gambling back in high school. Friends and i would skip class to bet on all sorts of card games. It was fun.
I was camping in the Ozarks. Specifically around the Blanchard springs area at the recommendation of a lemming. It was pretty fun, my first time hiking in that region. My all time favorite place I hiked is definitely Glacier National Park in Montana.
I used to play chess a bit (1300 elo iirc) in high school too, but mostly stopped afterwards. Haven't watched kakegurui yet, but I've seen my fair share of anime. The only gambling anime I've seen is kaiji. My favorites are probably one piece, blood blockade battlefront, and gurren lagaan. Very shounen heavy, ik.
Mostly read manga and manhwa these days rather than watch ngl.
Damn, you're pretty good yourself. I peaked at 1200 rapid before i stopped playing. Yeah, I've seen kaiji too, and for what it's worth kaiji is definitely above Kakegurui. The latter is just some more dumb fun. I praise you for having the wherewithal to get into one piece. I just can't watch 1000+ episodes of one anime without it getting old. I've strangely never heard of blockade battlefront, but i do know gurren lagan. I can relate to the manga/manhwa over anime too. Reading just lets me go at my own pace, and i can stop reading when i want. Doesn't really feel rhe same with anime.
I actually think i have a pretty good grasp of your age. I might not be spot on, but it's either one higher, or one lower. Are you 23?
I am within the range you said. Good work! Don't want to specify whether higher or lower for anti-doxxing reasons.
Haha, I'll take that W 🤝. Thanks for participating friend
Np
I'm from Arkansas. Every small town on the highway is a speed trap. Although they haven't seemed to care as much since the pandemic
This place was just across the border from y'all, in Oklahoma.
So probably the same shit. Sorry you have to deal with that
