Has anyone here actually used AM radio during an emergency? I've used FM to keep track of a tornado once and weatherband a few times, but never AM.

Once. As a kid. Just because I had an AM pocket radio and the power was out due to a storm. Turned out to be a tornado warning one county over. Scared the bejesus outta me and I kept looking outside to see if there was any funnel clouds forming.
