So satisfactory has been a game in the corner of my eye but I don’t know much about the game, is it worth the money. The only automation game I’ve played is palworld and I wouldn’t consider that automation and I’ve also played space engineers which I’ve been told is similar in the fact of hooking everything together
It's actually really good if you like FPS, Farming for ressources and building. I spent a lot of time in the game, but not enough time imo, I'll need to play more!
Ah that sounds cool
If I do get into mind DMing me that link. Also if I get friends into it can I share that link
I'm not OP ! but [email protected] can hook you up I think :)
Alright thanks
Yup!
Any interest in doing so on the server?
I personally haven't played using a server until now, and that feeling of exploration you get when logging onto a minecraft server where others have been building things while you were away is amazing, and I think it could be really add a lot to satisfactory.
Indeed it might add a looot, and I'd love to join (give me the link) but I'm not sure if I'll have time to join for the moment, maybe this week end!
No commitment to play regularly required, I'm a working adult myself, and only had time to set this up today because I've a few days of sick leave due to a light fever. DMd the deets!
It's very fun. The complexity it honestly daunting, which is why I've been wanting to try playing with a larger group in order to divide up the work.
Oh cool, you guys have a discord for the server or some communication
I just set up the server today, though that may become a good idea soon.
Making do with in-game chat for the early game, eventually maybe a matrix group or discord server.
Yay I contributed an idea
I've set up a steam group for this: https://steamcommunity.com/chat/invite/EblxtBh7
Nice I’ll join it once I get to my pc steam mobile isn’t working for me
Chat is a separate app on mobile, but desktop should work with just steam installed.
Ah that’ll do it then
I have 2000 hours in the game. I can say it's been the most worthwhile game I've ever played. Honestly for what you get, it's one of the few games I think deserved to be priced at 100, but I admit that's probably not a very popular opinion :)
Do you have any interest in joining the server?
I really want to try playing with just a bunch of people, more like a public minecraft server where a bunch of people are building a ton of stuff all over the map. Have you done that? Most of my hours are in my own games, with a friend joining for a stint here and there, but mostly it being just me.
Thank you so much for the invite! I think in the short term, I'll probably pass, or if you'd like to give me connection info maybe I'll poke my head in just to see how things are going. It's because I promised my friend that we'd play 1.0 together, and we're going to start in a couple of months so I want to avoid spoilers, which is extra difficult right now.
However, I love that you're doing this, and if you'd like to make it more official I'd be happy to post a blurb in the sidebar, or pin the post if you would like more players!
Also, I'll probably write a post for this, but if you're running a multiplayer server I'll give you this link to a post I did a while ago, if you've never done it before. I'll preface that there's no right or wrong way to play Satisfactory, and I love the game for that - that being said there can be some tense moments when running multiplayer. "You said you'd have Steel beams online but you've been AFK for 3 days!" "Doesn't mean I wanted you to just finish them for me!". I have no idea if it'll help, but it's some of the things we do to keep the peace. Maybe I'll make another post about that....
I'll be posting map and screenshot updates from the server as the industrialisation progresses.
Feel free to hop into the steam group even if you don't do any sessions on the server.
You can absolute bring your friend along, and doing some sightseeing on the server is by no means unwelcome.
I have backups running which will allow me to roll back the saves to a previous point in time if it becomes necessary, and I have experience managing a small community with both minecraft and titanfall servers.
What the specifics of the code of conduct are is something I'll develop as I figure out what kind people want to play on the server, and then suitably enforced once I know what they are.
For now I'm telling people they can build whatever they like, while simply asking them not to grief.
Sounds like a lot of fun! I hope you all have a blast playing, and yeah maybe we'll pop in just to see how it's going. I promise no griefing :)
If you haven't hosted dedicated, we did find that Satisfactory is both heavy vertically and horizontally, most important is a high frequency clock. In the later updates they've done a great job sharding out processing to multiple cores, but later game it will still be very tightly bound by your best core.
Have a great time playing, whether this if your first or 10th factory, enjoy!
Factorio but in 3D and more chill
