Epic is as DRM free as GOG is
Not that I don't believe you but...
Yeah, no actually it is that I don't believe you.
Try it for yourself then
If you have a DRM free game on GOG or Epic then you can launch the application directly
If you have a game with DRM then on GOG you need galaxy and on Epic you need the launcher
