It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

Rule 8: The subject of a post cannot be low hanging fruit, that is comments/posts made by a private person that have low amount of upvotes/likes/views. Comments/Posts made on other instances that are accessible from hexbear are an exception to this. Posts that do not meet this requirement can be posted to [email protected]

Rule 9: if you post ironic rage bait im going to make a personal visit to your house to make sure you never make this mistake again

The old boogymen of Hexbear and Grad are invisible, so .world will saber rattle from time to time. .ml believes in an interconnected fediverse, so they don't plan on defeding, and .world wants to maintain their image of being impartial.

I imagine eventually the contradiction will be resolved and some inciting incident will leave us with .world defeding and a multipolar Lemmy arising.

Honestly if the Lemmy creators are ML I don't understand why they don't just tell .world to fuck off. They're not constructive to have in the fediverse and all they do is lower the quality of the place while spreading red scare style disinfo.

Dessalines said it's because they value an interconnected fediverse, and believe in the long run it will be better to not defed from any major instance, despite the skirmishes.

I largely agree, if Hexbear and Lemmygrad can't serve that role or don't want to, it's good to have at least one major instance to expose libs to Marxism. Even if my experience would be better on Grad or Hexbear, I still like being able to try to lead libs to theory.

they sound like a better person than i.

i left reddit because i couldn't stomach the absurdity and now my stomach hurts from seeing yet another rally cry for defederation on lemmy.world and i find myself wishing that they would.
