With few exceptions, Australian acts are permitted to have one hit in the US charts, then fall out of the international limelight.

Those acts however often have lots of other cool songs!

There are also several Australian acts that just aren't famous globally.

In short: After a 17-year run, the Caloundra Music Festival has been cancelled for 2024.

The festival director said rising costs and a tough economic climate were to blame.

What's next? Musicians are calling for better public support for the industry by buying tickets or spreading the word.

Support by buying tickets? Fuck you. Last time I went to a concert pre covid, tickets were $75. Now tickets for the same or equal acts are running $500-$1000 per ticket.

Eat shit with your concerts, events and tickets. Nobody can afford them anymore
