Italy are Davis Cup champions for the first time in 47 years after beating Australia 2-0 in Sunday’s final

I just finished watching the noahed doco on you tube. It interviews each player of each match during Yannik Noah's road to winning the French open in 1983. Really good watch. I recommend.

I always see him with Iga Swiatek's team these days, but he was not on the coaching team before.

Each of the top 4 seeds gets their own quarter, with all things going to seeding would put 1-4 and 2-3 as the semifinals which all makes sense. But the Slams seed down to the third round (32), but don't maintain this pattern, at least not completely. For example, in the US Open Men's Singles this year, the first couple seed matchups in the third round are 1-26 (not 1-32), 16-24 (not 16-17), and 12-19 (not 9-24). They still maintain each seed having their own slice below the third round, just curious as to why they randomly distribute 5 through 32 through these slices of the draw.

Elina Svitolina's mastery of Daria Kasatkina continued Wednesday at the Mubadala Citi DC Open.

The unseeded Ukrainian moved through to the third round at the WTA 500 event with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kastakina, the No. 5 seed and World No. 11, extending her head-to-head record against her to 8-0 in the process.

In those eight matches, Svitolina has only lost two sets.

Svitolina is now 2-0 against Kasatkina this year, having also won in straight sets in the fourth round of Roland Garros, and is through to her fourth quarterfinal in her last five events played. This week's event in Washington, D.C. is just the eighth tour-level event of Svitolina's comeback from her maternity leave, which began in Charleston in April.

"I just try to fight each time I play Dasha. She's a tough opponent to face, and each time, I try to play just one extra ball over the net, to take and dictate the game. I'm really happy I won the match today."

Zhang Shuai (who was the #2 seed of the tournament) withdrew after this call. Umpire refused to get the Supervisor even though Zhang asked for them. She ended up complaining to the umpire multiple times before withdrawing.

Early quote: "Carlos Alcaraz is even better than I thought he was". Which, imo, puts a huge target on his back now, but that's for a later discussion.

The 24-year-old from the Czech Republic is ranked 42nd in the world and becomes the lowest-ranked woman to win at the All England Club, and the first unseeded woman to reach the final in 60 years.

What a win for Vondrousova, but it hurts for Ons.

Hi all, so a doubt... there's u10 u12 u14 u16 u18 and all those categories (don't know if it's the right word) have an equivalent in spanish (Benjamin, alevin, infantil, cadete, junior) but then, when over 18 it's called "absoluto" in spanish and I don't know the word -if there's any- in english.

I thought it was "senior" but that seems to be the name of 30+ competitions so...anyone care to clarify? Thx!

View from my seat yesterday after camping in the queue Tuesday night. Awesome match, great example of Novak's dominance. Thompson was great but couldn't get any traction

With Wimbledon starting today, I can feel this community could getting a bit of traction. We should pump up the activity here as much as possible using this Wimbledon as the catalyst to grow. Keep talking tennis!

That being said, Novak gonna wipe the floor again this time.
