So in their reply they basically give me the standard "delete your posts and comments manually, then delete your account through this form" spiel, to which I could technically reply that it is their responsibility to delete the data and not mine.

However, if possible I would like to keep my reddit account for a little longer so I can still see posts that are helpful, at least until the fediverse kicks off totally. I assume that under GDPR I cant specify which data I would like deleted and which kept, its either all or nothing, so I'll avoid asking them to remove it all for the time being.

However from a GDPR standpoint, if I dont delete my account as well in additin to posts+comments and notice that 6 months down the line theyve brought back some of my content without my consent even after I delete it, could I take action against them?

How should I word my reply to them notifying them that even though it is their job I will be deleting my posts and comments but not the account, so that I am legally covered for the future?

Thanks in advance everyone!

What are people's thoughts on how Reddit is coming out of this so far? How bad have things been for Reddit? Do we know how much their traffic has dropped and would a drip in traffic even hurry them that much. Why don't we see talk of a new blackout at the end of the month?

I have been increasingly having to re-run my purge scripts across multiple accounts, despite not being on reddit for a few weeks now. The longer i wait between logging in and purging comments, the more appear.

And they do appear quasi-random, as if they page/comments get restored when another user pulls/visits an older page.

How does this even square with privacy regulations anyhow. If a user wants to delete their comments, forcibly restoring them against their will is, at best, unseemly.

sub might turn into orca only sub

For those of you out of the loop, Reddit admins took it upon themselves to remove a meme about Orca's attacking yachts. source

Not even that...literally a screenshot of an article by The Atlantic saying the orcas are bad for attacking boats and then underneath it a scene from The Office with the caption altered to say "You know what? Now I'm going to root for the orcas even harder." source

During the mastodon migration there was a script to find Twitter users on Mastodon based on info they put in their bio. Based on this link, we could automate some of that. Does anything already exist to do this?

Excerpt:

In our last email to them, we stated that we wanted $4.5 million in exchange for the deletion of the data and our silence. As we also stated, if we had to make this public, then we now demand that they also withdraw their API pricing changes along with our money or we will leak it.

We expect to leak the data.

I've received this message on my inbox just a few hours after deleting my posts (all of them) last night.

I'm just glad to know where they stand.

And yes, I know that a lot of people have unsavory views about that subreddit, but I guess there's just no accounting for taste.
