...for your team, what would it be?

Although I'd like BC's QB settled for a few years, I'm going to say kicking game: from extra points, FGs and even punts, every game is an adventure.

Why can't we fix this one thing?

First off, apologies for the month-long hiatus. February was a rough month with two snowstorms that knocked out our power, a week of having the flu and adapting to a new routine with a kid not being in daycare. But the good news is we're back!

Since I missed a few weeks, I'll try to double post these some in March to get caught up so that we can finish by the end of the offseason.

If you missed the original post and have no clue what this even is, see here:

Before I get into today's two rankings, I want to note that several teams all tied with 7 points, so the place ranking tiebreakers are pretty subjective, and really all the teams with 7 points are in a tie for the same place. Once we get into the schools that scored more points there will be less ties but my very unscientific ranking system didn't result in a ton of differentiation on the lower end

#59: Temple University: 7 points

  • Usage: 1 point (1988 1999 0 )
  • Consistency: 2 points. From the fairly scant evidence of Temple's sticker usage I could gather it seems like they used stickers for a few individual seasons here and there but never any extended amount of time
  • Aesthetics: 2 points. It's very hard to get a good look at the stickers in the pictures but I did also found this post from the NCAA football video games showing a bit of a better view. I really can't tell at all what the stickers are in the first example from the 1980s, but both the second one from the 90s and the more recent one from the 2010s seem to be the diamond design that's in the video games too. Temple lost one point for having a logo on the helmet in addition to the sticker, lost one point for the stickers being asymmetrically distributed, and lost a point because it looks like the stickers on the 90s helmet have a white background that blends in with the white helmet.
  • Theming & Originality: 2 points. As I already mentioned, I can't really tell what the 1980s stickers even are, but both the 1990s and 2010s stickers are a diamond. I initially was going to give that one point for not being much more creative than a star, but apparently the diamond is a part of Temple's logo & branding, so they get 2 points instead.

All in all, I don't have a ton to say about Temple's stickers, largely cause I can barely see them on any pictures. Temple got last place out of the schools that tied with 7 points because they seem to because every picture has the stickers cluttered in the back where you can't see them and you don't get credit for half-assing it.

#58: Pitt: 7 points

  • Usage: 1 point ( 1976 1980 2015 2016 )
  • Consistency: 2 points. Like a lot of teams, Pitt seems to have experimented with helmet stickers a few times over the years but never embraced them for more than one or two seasons at a time.
  • Aesthetics: 2 points. Lost one point for the stickers being asymmetric (2015 & 2016), lost one point for also having a logo on the helmet, and lost one point for covering up part of the helmet design (1980 sticker on the stripe)
  • Theming & Originality: 2 points. They've had two different stickers, both just variations of their official logo

Biggest thing here is just that the stickers that just say "Pitt" on them feel lazy as hell. If they decide to bring stickers back again they ought to at least bring back the panther stickers. Pitt got the tiebreaker over Temple since they don't seem to be trying to hide their stickers, but some of the other schools that scored 7 points just had some stuff that was more interesting to me so they didn't rise above those.

That's all for this week, I'll try to get some more of these cranked out throughout March, so see y'all in hopefully less than a week

Been seeing a lot of analysts reference different QB performances at the combine and note that “he did that while throwing to receivers he’s not used to”. How much of an impact does that actually have and why?
