i’m 37F, mother of three.

this takes place sometime in autumn 2018. marie, our oldest (12F) was in the sixth grade and participated in a lot of after-school activities, social events, and hangouts with a few good friends.

because we would have to have contact from her to find out things, especially when she couldn’t remember at that moment, our husband and I decided we give her a phone.

rather than give her a brand new phone, we decided to give her my husband’s old android phone as he just got the phone he currently had in 2017.

leo (9M) has always been quite easygoing and did not mind that much. I think he was happy for his sister. he also didn’t quite need a phone and only a few kids in his grade had phones (too young, if you ask me).

emma (8f) was more of an outspoken kid who visibly got angry marie had something she didn’t. being 8, she said she hated us and stormed into our room but later apologized. she said she just felt upset because marie got to have a phone, something emma always wanted, but she didn’t.

i told her once she started to need one, especially in the upper grades, she and leo could get some.

To clarify. Me and most of my family live in Slovenia (a country which claims to be progressive, but discrimination (especially against autistic people) is still very prevalent). I was diagnosed at 3 years of age (without my consent of course). In primary school she (my mother) disclosed my diagnosis without my consent which led to me being treated like people with down syndrome (despite my above average grades). In high school I explicitly asked her not to disclose it, but she did it anyway (since I already proved my intelligence, I'm now treated like I have schizophrenia). When I confronted her about it, she just acted like I didn't say anything. If that wasn't enough, I failed my car medical exam as the examiner claimed I was stupid, which led me to a psychological exam, where the psychologist claimed I don't take responsibility for my actions (which is why I believe I failed) despite me never accusing anyone else of anything. Now I'm forced to retake it in one year (and hope I get treated fairly next time).

I eat lunch in the cafeteria at work. Sometimes i like to watch videos of cats doing funny things on youtube during my break. The thing is, i don't wear headphones and sometimes people give me looks. AITA for watching videos in the cafeteria without headphones?

Hello, this community exists because [email protected] is deleted by creator, thus effectively abandoned by the creator. My problem is that there is already one in lemmy.world called [email protected]. So AITA for keeping this community open, while the subscribers are wondering why there isn't any activity here?
