Hello,

I have a fresh install of OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with KDE Plasma 6.3.5.

Every time I open an app which needs root privileges (such as myrlyn) I’m greeted by the KDE su window to enter my password. Even if I tick “Remember my password”, this does not have any effects, and the next time I’m asked for my password again.

Any idea on how to ensure the “Remember my password” setting in KDE su is honoured?

Thanks!

I noticed this recently, and now if I hover or click the network icon on Plasma, I see all my docker bridge networks, not just the normal Wifi and wired networks available.

Why did those start to show up, and how do I get rid of them?

Had a nice 3-day conference in #Gujarat, #India last month by #KDE. I published a blog post on my experiences here https://ravidwivedi.in/posts/kde-india-conference-2025/.

Check out the @prav project - an initiative I am involved in for mass adoption of privacy-respecting messaging.

I made up my mind to attend due to @sahil . Thanks to @bshah for organizing. Joseph, @double_a_runi and @arshubham for great time.

Also thanks to @contrapunctus for reviewing the draft before publishing.

Hello! I wanted to make some order in my screenshots, it would be extremely helpful if I could define defaults based on the app that is currently focused when taking the screenshot, if that's at all possible given Wayland's restrictions.
Do you know if there's a way, I haven't found any setting like that in Spectacle, but maybe there's some kind of workaround?

Edit: to add to @[email protected]'s solution, a few tweaks to make it a little easier to handle:

  1. If you want the actual screenshots to be placed elsewhere, you can create a symbolic link to that path with the name of the directory that is generated when you save the screenshot, e.g. I use it for a game, I tried to save a screenshot of it and it created a directory named "Genshin Impact", so I replaced that with a symlink to where I want it to be ("Pictures/Games/Genshin Impact/Screenshots")
  2. Since the title is only added when you take an "Active Window" screenshot, you can trigger it with Meta+Print Screen and as a bonus the screenshot is automatically saved with this shortcut, without needing to change other settings

I recently installed KDE Plasma to my Debian system after using Gnome my entire life. I still quite enjoy gnome, but I think that its workflow is better suited to a mobile system like my laptop.

Using Plasma on my desktop system has been revolutionary - there is a stupid amount of functionality in here. In particular, widgets, themes, and activities are just so well implemented for the most part - I really feel like I can tailor the GUI to my needs and wants, and I think this is an enormous part of what is making Linux a truly modern OS when compared to proprietary alternatives.

The more I tweak things, the more the system feels truly like MY system - something that I don't think I could make work with proprietary software.

I was not a big fan of the splash screen until I found out that, of course, it can be disabled or customized as well - so now I find myself making vector graphics to customize that as well haha.

My only real regret is that having been on Gnome originally, some Gnome stuff can get in the way (though I do still kind of like using GDM instead of SDDM). Whenever I should do some big update/upgrade I am for sure installing plasma from the get go.

As someone who is new to KDE overall, and particularly with a system that has Gnome still partially installed, if there is anything I should know, I would appreciate it. Furthermore if anyone has any favorite widgets and whatnot, I would love to hear about them as well.

Thank you
