the funny thing is though that there were apparently studies that show that younger folks especially have an AI-dar
and "that's so AI" has become a term for kitsch haha

(kinda replying to your the machines have won replies)
there are no 'machines' that will 'win' anything... the only way 'ai can win' is by normalising it, by forgetting the costs (environmental and human) of using it, as well as those who benefit from it's use (the people who stand to win something).
what you're calling for is exactly that (being complacant about it) and it's probably why people get upset..?
p.s. i do agree that we should approach each other with more love and understanding and probably inform more than shame. i'm truly believe most people are just lazy or curious, not actively malicious.
btw, the way you keep calling everyone a peasent is really not helping your case imho xD
errm, no thank you mr mobilek? xD
lol, literally got fwded two tweets by seperate anthropic employees that copypasta-d each other's "sincere personal message" (both accenting how it's "not a marketing stunt!")... how dumb is this gonna get before it finally blows over?
damn, i read "goodbye a/i" and missed the apostrophe (':
x4 has backlight, the new ones (v5? x4.5?) dropped it again for some reason? i got an original for myself and the backlight one for my wife actually :D
a fair, didn't read that properly! guess for tablet replacement that does sound nice, but for reading i think i'd still prefer something like the xteink (actually very curious if the size will be an issue but i always hate how heavy the paperwhite feels)
i have no data on it, but i'd honestly doubt you'd get much power savings when watching video?
also high refresh rate displays were stupidly expensive last time i checked. there is, after all, just a single company making them...
why would you run android on eink anyway? refresh rates are garbage for anything but reading and owning a distraction free device is one of the biggest upsides of ereaders, for me anyway
i did root my kindle (got it as a present) and even a terminal is horrid to use... actually just ordered an xteink and really looking forward to an unlocked bootloader from the factory ^^
p.s. also i just got an email that they released a newer version which seems to have a better soc (don't read comics but if that's a reason maybe they're already improving on that) edit: and it's still half the price, most of which is probably the display itself tbf D:
nah, same-ish in eu... i tend to go for the really low end (motorola usually has a phone for about 100-200€) cos i only really use lemmy, calls, messaging and bank (the one that doesn't let me switch to custom full time D:) and they usually last me at least 2 years... don't think a flagship would last me 10 tbh x)
the saddest part is that we normalised 650$ phones being 'mid-range'
