FWIW, I'm looking at ivpn as a potential replacement for mullvad. Haven't done thorough research on the company yet but I'm impressed by their website.

Airvpn also seems good, but the people running it are much more anonymous so it feels more difficult (for me) to trust them. But if they're really privacy activists then it's understandable.

    For those of you who use an email address with a custom domain name, like first@firstlast.com, do you use that email address for every online account you create? It seems weird to me to do that if the email address is also my professional address and the domain is used for my professional/portfolio website, but maybe I'm overthinking it.

    Why do I see top-level comments that look like replies to other comments? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
     

    Sometimes I see top-level comments on a post that, from their content, appear to be replying to other comments within the post. Is there some bug that makes them appear as top-level comments rather than replies to the comment they're responding to? Or are people just bad at replying to the correct comment? I never see this on reddit so I'm confused why I'm seeing so many cases of it on lemmy.

    Just quickly skimming the article you linked, I'm not seeing evidence that wikipedia is "shit", just that there have been many attempts by governments and other powerful people to influence its content, which shouldn't be surprising to anyone given how popular it is. Are there examples you could point to of those attempts being successful? (Including particular examples you want to highlight in that article; again I only skimmed it on a small screen.)

    It also seems strange to link to a wikipedia article to support the claim that wikipedia is shit.

    I haven't read the article and I'm not saying you're wrong, but in general plant foods are known to have less environmental impact than animal products because animals are higher on the food chain, and it takes more energy to raise an animal for consumption (including the resources to grow food for the animal) than to just grow plants and consume them directly.
