I'm doing it right now.
I like to think about what to do when I finally move to Belgium.
I'm basic. I listen to music, watch videos, and play video games. One of the only non-basic things I do is go on Fridays to a Japanese club at my college since I don't have classes Friday.
Prep for tabletop RPGs - Sometimes thats making maps, other times designing vignettes and encounters, and when I'm feeling a need to recharge the ol' fiction engine, experiencing thematically similar media to just wholesale steal ideas from.
So for me it's similar to this except I really enjoy making missions for a DCS World group (combat flight sim) I play with. Not only that but I make PowerPoints and briefings. So fun to nerd out on when I have time to make it.
Teaching programming for kids, 3D printing, photography, playing the saxophone, gaming (pretty much exclusively coop), playing board games.
If I could afford a 3D printer I would definitely use it a bunch for personal projects
Getting a used mid-range printer is quite affordable. Or try looking for your local maker space, so you don't have to buy your own. It's never been easier to get into 3D printing than today.
Also, it's quite easy to sell custom 3D prints. Thus it's not that hard to cover the cost of materials (or even the printer itself).
Gaming, programming, gamedev, boardgames, drinking beer, producing music, running, watching F1, and more. Problem is that I often lack the time and energy for the more productive hobbies. At least I got myself to run a fairly consistent 2 days a week. I don't really understand how people can be bored, there's so much to do.
Build stuff. Either physical things like legos, puzzles, etc, or software.
Free time?
Gaming, reading, praying, listening to music, practicing languages, but itβs all hard because I struggle with tasks and daily activities regularly.
But to be fair, I find things to do eventually.
I also maintain an art blog, draw pictures, shop online whenever I can, and watch movies and shows whether on streaming or physical media.
just picked up embroidery and knitting, been lots of fun making things for myself and i know what my friends are getting for next christmas lol
