The 3.x line is starting to look like the GEGL payoff that was promised fifteen years ago. Non-destructive editing on a codebase this old is genuinely hard β most projects of that age would have rewritten twice and lost the userbase in the process. The slow-and-stupid path turned out to be the right one.

Hell of a night for it.
Photo craft was made in a week and it's way superior....
Feel free to use it yourself then. Many of us will keep using GIMP, battle-tested and amazing piece of work.
I don't think that Photocraft is superior. But the reason why its made so quickly is, because its vibe coded. There is no real engineering behind it, no good code quality and its not even a unique project; just stolen another project. And right now it's even buggy as hell and unfinished mess with missing features too. Besides possible future licensing issues, I wouldn't even use that program if it was good.
I prefer GIMP over Photoshop or what this abomination of Photocraft is.
Made in a week completely by AI,.right?
Based on a program that is made in decades.
My comment was about that person saying photo craft was made in a week and is superior. I was saying that, "photo craft was made in a week by AI, right?" Not about GIMP
I wasn't talking about GIMP. Photocraft is an exact copy of a program, that was designed and created for decades. My argument is, that Photocraft couldn't be created in a few weeks if it was from scratch like GIMP or Photoshop was.
