A federal immigration agent who drove into and seriously injured a Texas man on 10 October after a botched traffic stop was indicted Friday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Mario Alberto Morales, 33, an agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), deliberately veered his SUV into Miguel Parra Hernandez, 48, causing multiple leg fractures and a hip injury, journalists at a news conference in Houstonwere told.

In announcing the charge against Morales, Harris county district attorney Sean Teare questioned the training that Morales, a recent appointment by ICE, had received – and denounced the activities and conduct of the agency in support of the frequently violent immigration crackdown during Donald Trump’s second presidency.

An ICE badge does not give you free rein to injure, kill, or violate the constitutional rights of anyone.

Sure seems like it does.

It did for a brief while there. The tides are clearly turning.

    Justice is persistent, not swift.

    For example.

    Found this for you:

I repeat, justice is not swift. It is persistent.

Not a "doomer", just a realist, and I disagree. People need to stop being complacent.

    You're absolutely a doomer.

You can deny the label all you want, but we can all see you plainly out here telling us all that there is no justice and there is no hope. You are by definition, a doomer. Sucks to suck. The evidence is literally in this comment thread. Ain't no disowning it.

Your exact message is a message fascists WANT DESPERATELY for you to echo. And they thank you dearly for your service to their cause.

Tagged as loser doomer fascist lover.

Your example is A) German police investigating a suspected concentration camp guard, and B) only an investigation. It's an example of the German police being persistent, full points there. But even then it is not justice. It is only an investigation. Do you have an example of American justice, and I mean actual justice, like an ICE agent actually being sentenced and sent to jail for their violent crimes?

How many people have been murdered by out of control ICE agents? How many ICE agents are in jail for their crimes? It has been almost ten months since Renee Good was murdered on January 7th by an ICE agent. A crime recorded on video. Where is her murderer, Jonathan Ross? No one knows for sure because ICE is hiding him, but according to then New York Governor Hochul, he was given a 3-day suspension and then reinstated in New York.

What about Alex Pretti's ICE agent murderer? A crime also committed on video. Alex was also murdered January of this year. Your guess about his location is as good as mine because Homeland Security has kept even his identity secret. You can bet he is still on the job for ICE and has been steadily violating people's rights the whole time.

At this point in history, the tragic truth is that American justice is neither persistent nor swift.

The only surprising part is the ICE agent is being charged

If he’s convicted and jailed (and that’s an if the size of the universe), trump will pardon him.

    Trump can't pardon state convictions.

Brown ice won't be protected like the white ones.

Surely the Hispanic ice didn't think that they would be protected from accountability?

    Surely.
