Medieval? Ancient Romans traveled to Britain and established a pretty permanent colony there that didn't just disappear once the empire ended.

edit: meaning that travel continued in both directions and that some of the "Brits" that traveled to Rome might well have been descendants of Romans that settled in Britain long ago.

It might be a nice find but nothing groundbreaking unless I'm missing something here.
Still, an interesting story about immigration already having existed in the 10th century.
