Sounds like the protest just got more important.

I dispise the current ruling class of Israel as much as the next person, but this "7 oktober" thing was still a terrorist attack with many victims. Real people have been hurt, real families torn. I hope you can see how this would be a bad date to plan such a demonstration and how it would disrespectful to a lot of innocent israeli people.

How confidently you ignore the possibility someone might embrace "Never Again" about October 7th, about what it was used to rationalize or about the Holocaust and Genocide in general by protesting peacefully on October 7th in another country.

Maybe that person is a Jew, maybe they are Palestinian or Muslim, maybe they are Atheist or Agnostic... there are many reasons to protest on October 7th, including in solidarity of the innocent Jews who died that day and in resistance to the way their deaths (and the hostages' lives too) were used to "justify" some of the most abhorrent crimes against humanity... and out of love for Judaism too as resistance to the way people have attempted to justify genocide as a defense of Judaism as if an honest secular read of Judaism could ever find a basis to rationalize such a thing.

I am very confident that to live according to the actual values that Judaism endorses in the human pursuit means to go out and cry as loudly as you can to the rest of humanity that this genocide must stop.

What is missing from this article is that 7 October is the exact day of the anniversary of the terrorist attack by Hamas and other groups on Israel.

Do you think that might have influenced the ban for a demonstration on that particular day?

Shame on you for acting as if we can determine whether people are allowed to peacefully protest or not based on implied invocations of potential violence about an event that happened in another country.

The reason you go out and peacefully protest in Paris on October 7th is to take the narrative away from people who want this to simplify down to a much simpler and more base application of violence and division.

The reason you protest peacefully is to displace the smaller violent voices who attempt to exploit vacuums of public expression and discourse by trying to pass their ideologies of hate and violence off as representative of how people in general feel.

The Genocide Of Palestinians must stop now for the simple fact that Genocide Is Bad. This isn't something we can put off dealing with or make sure to only address through the "proper or "correct" civil processes that may or may not be functional. Mass protest expresses this general sentiment not as a specific reactionary ideology but as a result of people adhering to their individual principles and reaching the same conclusion together... I.E. what we most often call Common Sense.
