Whatever it is just put it in the headline I already barely care

When I was in J-school, there was a really beautiful system for news articles. The job of the headline was to tell you what the article was about, in the most succinct yet meaningful way possible. Then the story itself was organized such that the most important information was in the opening sentence, the lede, and the most salient facts were in the first paragraphs, with supporting details and background information listed at the end. This was known as the inverted pyramid. That way, if you were in a hurry and just wanted the broad strokes, you could just read the first couple of paragraphs and skim the rest. If you wanted detailed information, you simply kept reading. Also it was easy for a rushed editor to know where to cut if he was constrained for space (in a print world that was a consideration): you just cut from the bottom.

Now the headline is there to entice you into clicking by arousing your curiosity and the story is organized to keep you on the page. It's deliberately designed to waste your time to optimize ad revenue. Capitalism ruined journalism.

Back when the purpose of an article was to convey information.

Now the goal is to put advertising in front of you, and keep it on your screen as long as possible.

Gotta bury the lead, so you spend time looking for it instead of moving on.

The same guy who doesn't go to church who says he knows more about the Bible than anyone (including the Pope)

At some point "pathological liar says new lie" has to stop being a news story, right?

They also tried to get him to say his favorite verse or whatever and he deflects saying he loves all of it. Like a 3rd grader doing a book report on a book he's never read

Or Sarah Palin being asked which newspapers she reads.

If she wasn't one of the dumbest people alive (clearly second place at best nowadays) she could have said something about how naming a publication could be considered as endorsement and she didn't want to do that.

But she'd need to know what "construed" means, of course...

Someone on the reddit thread had a big post of all the crazy brags he's done over the years. I forgot about the "I'm more humble than anyone else" brag, LOL

    Reminds me of Amish Paradise:

Think you're really righteous? Think you're pure in heart?
Well, I know I'm a million times as humble as thou art

Trump: "I know more about inflation, I know more about everything than anybody in this room. Anybody anywhere in the world. Well, there's a woman sitting right over there. She's a housewife but she's very good. She got a natural instinct for business. She perhaps knows more than I do but I actually don't think so."

Weird manifestation of humility at the end there.

More likely he was hitting on her than trying to show humility. His brain is mush.

I wonder if it was meandering like that because first he spotted a woman he thinks is kind of hot.

Then he thinks she's too old - AKA "housewife", but that he'd still be into it "she's very good". Some praise: "natural instinct for business". A little more: "She perhaps knows more than I do" - whoops, crazy oversteer there! No way anyone knows more than I do, let's reel that in a bit...

I know more about inflation, I know more about everything than anybody in this room. Anybody anywhere in the world.

What a totally normal thing to say.

I've been listening to a podcast called Real Dictators. This will not end well.

Not exactly a stunning revelation, when it didn't begin or middle that well either.

If he's willing to demolish the east wing and the Kennedy Center just to glaze himself, he's willing to do a lot worse to stay in power.

How am I supposed to look at a guy who would nuke a hurricane and think he has any mental lines in the sand that map onto reality as I know it? Of course he would stage a coup, he already did he already did.
