It is also boring and uninspired. For a while the slop trough brought those videos to my feed but I kept hitting do not show this to me and reporting them for terrorism. Anything I don't like in the trough gets reported for terrorism.

Honestly, why the fuck is my "Do not recommend" button not working? This shit keeps coming back on my feed.

It's a pacifier. Tech isn't there to make your life better, it's there to steal as much from you as possible.

“Tech”… like tech, in general? Come on. This is like a parody of luddites.

that's not what he means. "tech" is taking on a second meaning related to "big tech". I don't like it but it's literally (heh) the truth.

I mean yeah Big Tech as in Amazon, Google, Apple, Microsoft etc? Yeah ofc, monopolistic corporations owned by fascist billionaires are bad. Capitalists steal.

    Water is wet 😂

Problem is people allow the system crushing them to justify turning primitivists 🤷‍♂️

But yeah I dont think this is the case here, as the original commenter above said.

Edit: my response was punchy and unnecessarily combative. What I mean is encompassed by anything that would refer to itself as "Tech." Not the concept of technology in general.

It would align with reactionary comedy being forever crystallized in 2012

    It’s just so tiring.

They really think they deserve to be put on a pedestal for having the personality of beige paint, and that even the smallest bit “different” is ridiculous at best, if not something that should be destroyed.

They call us “elitist” as if they aren’t some of the smuggest pricks possible because all their tastes and whatever social and political groups they’re part of are always the most popular, “normal” flavor.

I'm barely getting by acting like I understand "hegemony", if people start reading Gramsci I'd have to start acting like I understand passive revolution and I'm just not ready to commit to the history of the risorgimento via the class dynamics of Piedmont-Savoy vs the Action party. /s

But seriously I dont think people realize how much liberal identity politics are based on a false understanding of Gramsci via Mouffe+Laclau. Poor understanding of Gramsci is low key one of the most pernicious brainworms in our movements, because a lack of understanding his theories is actively being used against the left

Where would you recommend starting with Gramsci?

These are notes i have for a primer of hegemony and passive revolution. Gramsci is a little tricky because he doesnt have an essay called "how to define hegemony" you have to like look at a bunch of stuff and suss it out. These are essays, you could read and take notes on all of this stuff mentioned in a day or 2. but get ready to wikipedia a bunch of history about 19th century Italy.

    From Selections from Prison Notebooks

    • the formation of the intellectuals
    • The Different Position of Urban and Rural-type Intellectuals
    • the function of piedmont
    • the concept of passive revolution
    • first epilogue (Tbh the whole notes on Italian history section is really good, but I had to wikipedia some stuff like wtf was piedmont-savoy and the action party, names and places, three wars of independence with Austria in the 1800s. Gramsci uses the history of the renaissance and risorgimento to prove his theories, so this whole section is really important)
    • ANALYSIS OF SITUATIONS. RELATIONS OF FORCE
