Forgiveness is hard to get if someone is not actually sorry.
post
There was a brief moment where woke meant "PoC be aware of the systems of power that are built to oppress you" and now it means "person who doesn't like slurs".
even saying "woke" in a derogatory way is deeply unserious, you would have to waterboard me to put a fucking version number on it
Also “no forgiveness”?
So much for “no one owes you anything.” If respect is earned and not owed, then forgiveness is the same way. You EARN forgiveness, you’re not entitled to it. Also, if you’re not even sorry for it, why do you care someone’s holding a grudge?
Okay, I am out of the loop with the woke 1.0 stuff. Any lore on this?
I wouldnt wade too deep into it. A few weeks back AOC was on an interview on national TV . She mentioned a comment from a colleague who said "woke 1 was crazy", and iirc meant it as a reflection on how in the 2010s identity politics and cancel culture were wielded as a weapon to shred and destroy people, rather than build constructive dialogue that focuses on solutions.
This sparked a flurry of discussion on left Twitter and other online space, and the terminology has taken on its own life (in a negative way, the defintions are too fuzzy to be useful). You end up with a spectrum of takes including the usual extremes like "so you and AOC are saying that racists and abusers shouldn't suffer consequences?" And that sort of thing.
idk guy I used to be a reactionary then I learned how to be a good person and shut up and listen and the left was pretty welcoming. Skill issue.
And who was responsible for the Salem Witch Trials? Oh, the ‘based’ crowd lying to themselves to come up with reasons to indulge in murdering women?
And what is wokeness? Stupid people being annoyed they have to learn to respect others?
Of course, basic manners is torture to stupid people so I guess I can see why they’d say that. Not being a jackass really does feel as bad as burning if you’re a total idiot.
