At a certain point (and this is the point) these articles start to function less as agitprop aimed at the general populace or even the limited readership of these rags, and more like a totemic, fetishistic, mantra-like form of self-soothing wrapped up as a threat

The genocide loving, zionist nazi James Kirchick wrote this filth because it makes him personally feel better and because it makes his boss feel better

They know deep down they lost the "debate" because there is no debate, everyone knows it's a genocide, especially these Nazis, they aren't interested in disputing the facts, they're interested in intimidating anyone with eyes by engaging in a distilled version of that Sartre quote about bigots using discourse as a weapon

Never believe that zionists are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. Zionists have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past

Preaching to choir here I'm sure

Israel’s actions in Gaza lack dolus specialis—the legal term for “specific intent,” which, according to a precedent set by the international tribunal that investigated the Rwandan genocide, means that the perpetrator acted “to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group.” Whatever the extreme rhetoric of some Israeli political leaders, Israel has not attempted to use its abundant military superiority to exterminate the Palestinian people.

That link in 'extreme rhetoric' is to another atlantic article about some apparently fake quotes attributed to Israeli leaders, obviously an attempt to distract from the real verified ones:

"We are imposing a complete siege on Gaza. No electricity, no food, no water, no fuel. Everything is closed. We are fighting human animals, and we are acting accordingly."

    - Yoav Gallant, recent Israeli Defence Minister openly admitting war crimes

"All of Gaza’s infrastructures must be destroyed to its foundation and their electricity cut off immediately. The war is not against Hamas but against the state of Gaza." "I am personally proud of the ruins of Gaza, and that every baby, even 80 years from now, will tell their grandchildren what the Jews did."

    - May Golan, Israeli Minister for Social Equality

"Gaza Strip should be flattened, and for all of them there is but one sentence, and that is death."

    - Yitzhak Kroizer, Knesset Member

"Erase Gaza from the face of the earth. Let the Gazan monsters rush to the southern border and flee into Egypt, or die. And let them die badly. Gaza should be wiped off the map, and fire and brimstone on the heads of the Nazis in Judea and Samaria. Jewish wrath to shake the earth around the world. We need a cruel, vengeful IDF here. Anything less is immoral."

    - Galit Distel-Atbaryan, Likud(Netanyahu's ruling party) member

You can't make the 'Israel has not attempted to use its abundant military superiority to exterminate the Palestinian people.' argument when they've bombed 34 out of 36 hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2025/08/un-experts-appalled-relentless-israeli-attacks-gazas-healthcare-system and all have been put of service Destroying Gaza’s Health Care System Is a War Crime https://foreignpolicy.com/2024/02/09/israel-gaza-health-care-hospitals-genocide-icj/

A report commissioned by the UN Human Rights Council documents alleged violations, includingremoved, in Gaza and the occupied West Bank since Hamas's 7 October 2023 attack on Israel triggered the Gaza war.

It also says the destruction of maternity wards in Gaza and embryos at a fertility clinic could indicate a strategy to prevent births among a particular group - one of the legal definitions of genocide.
