The comments have went so far off the rules (and rails). Locking, because mods volunteer, and we've been flooded with reports for this post thread alone.

Hey, so as a trans person in Ohio, where both of my gubernatorial candidates hate trans people, it's decidedly not an easy choice.

There wasn't a Dem primary either.

Sorry to say, but reality doesn't conform to your MS Paint meme :/

Amy Acton may not support trans athletes, but she still supports broad anti-discrimination protections for trans people in housing, employment, and public accommodations.

Vivek Ramaswamy does not support trans athletes, has advocated for bans of gender affirming care for those under 18, said he would “ban genital mutilation or chemical castration”, and said "transgenderism... is a mental disorder".

I don't know about you, but the former seems less harmful than the latter at the very least.

Seems you are the one posting divisive stuff a month before the election, but go off

"Remember you stupid tr#nnies, your job is to support the party, no matter how much the candidate we nominate hates you. Your job is to sit down, shut up, and get in line. We need your votes, not your voices. The correct time to oppose the TERFS is not during the first year's primary (we let candidates hide their transphobia during the first primary.) It's certainly not during the first general election. It's during the primary, you stupid tr#nny!"

"Also, please be aware that it is irresponsible to primary a TERF democrat running for reelection in a purple district. We can't give up an incumbent seat after all. You'll just have to wait and vote SO HARDS until that district votes so overwhelmingly blue that it becomes a safe seat. Then it will be acceptable to primary the TERF we put forward. Also, please be aware that before running in that primary, your new candidate will first have to get passed the real primary, the money primary to decide who gets to be on the primary ballot. Ok, now that your role is clear, blue no matter who. Remember tr#nnies, you're fabulous and we love you. And remember, if we lose, it's all your fault and you deserve whatever laws are passed against you! Slay gurl! Hope this helps! Don't forget to sign up to canvas for the terf as this year's pride! 🥰 🥰 🥰 "

Here is why no one on the progressive left likes Democrats.

And the fact everyone on the left gets called "liberals" in here shows this is probably a rightwing bs post

Democrats are not an opposition party. They just play one on tv, like professional tv wrestling. They take turns being the "heel" and the "hero".

    Anyway,

Hakeem secretly meets with Kushner who is a known traitor and foreign agent and also, officially, is an unelected official with no standing in the government. https://time.com/article/2026/08/24/hakeem-jeffries-private-meeting-with-jared-kushner-draws-backlash-ahead-of-midterms/

AIPAC Democrats are funding aipac Republicans over DSA and progressive candidates that are against blowing up children and innocents. This means no one of importance will be held meaningfully responsible for the destruction of our country. "Democratic Primaries: AIPAC’s super PAC, the United Democracy Project (UDP), spent $53.6 million in independent expenditures by August 2026, primarily to defeat Democrats like Abdul El-Sayed (Michigan) and Cori Bush (Missouri). In the 2024 cycle, AIPAC spent $24 million to unseat progressives in Democratic primaries. Republican Campaigns: AIPAC also supports Republicans, endorsing over 100 members of Congress who voted against certifying the 2020 election. However, its Republican spending is often directed against candidates AIPAC deems "insufficiently supportive" of Israel, such as Thomas Massie (KY) in 2026, whom UDP targeted with $3.58 million in opposition. Donor Overlap: A Politico report found that 46% of AIPAC donations to Democratic candidates in 2024 came from donors who had previously supported Republican causes or candidates since 2020, including GOP billionaires like Paul Singer and Haim Saban. "

Tammy Duckworth says that Dems shouldn't be "impeaching nobody" and we should work with the pedophilic, traitorous, authoritarian who has broken more laws than exist.

    https://youtu.be/Cm53m1L4Vas?is=qDThCb9RhXqqzxkl

No one likes the Dems and everyone knows that nothing will happen that causes any real change after they get elected. Everything we want will be on the back burner because "we don't want another trump again"

    Status quo doesn’t work anymore

Support for your wider points. But the status quo has always been working for the same people. The USAian state was literally concocted by enslavers to violently enforce their privilege.

I agree and I think that is why the status quo is done. A big part of that is a lot of people that bought into some or all of the propoganda (myself included as a GWOT veteran).

The information age is proving to be uncontrollable by the elites and maybe real history and current events will still get through to the majority

You can vote third party, the important thing is to be a voter rather than a non-voter.

Primaries are for getting the candidates you want. General elections are for picking the candidate who is closest to your values. If you really want change candidates, get involved in your candidates primary push. Just bitching on here and sitting out on civic action is selfish catharsis.

What primary? Are we getting a primary this time or will the "party leaders" just pick again?

The 2026 primaries were over the last few months, progressives made some gains, the DNC turned all their guns on the progressives, their media telling boomers "Yeah, we want and you want , but imagine a conservative suburban woman who hates good policy. You should vote for who the Bailys would vote for in the general."

Since then the incumbents who didn't get primary'd have been either passing ghoulish policy that will decrease their chances in the general election now that they're safe from the left, or complaining about a twitch streamer.

"For dinner you can pick between overcooked turkey, or a bowl aged horse urine, children's fingers, and broken glass. You have to eat one of them."

"Neither option is vegan and the turkey is dry, so it doesn't matter which one I eat ."

I said this last time it cropped up, and it's still true now

    https://lem.lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/48205840/22263227

The truth of the matter, as it's often the way, it's there's nuances

    • If you're in a blue safe seat - vote third, if you're very lucky they might even win that seat, but the real purpose here is to go "WE DON'T WANT YOU TO SLIDE RIGHTWARDS BLUES, LOOK AT HOW MANY SEATS YOU LOST FROM DOING THAT"
    • If you're in a swing state - vote blue no matter who
    • If you're in a red state - vote blue no matter who
