Hi, I don't know if there’s been a similar post here or how appropriate this is, but I’d like to share my opinion on AI.

Recent news about mass layoffs in IT, manufacturing, and the service sector, driven by automation and AI, made me wonder: where is the world heading if wesimply let this process continue unchecked?

We live under capitalism, where the economy is largely based on people exchanging the results of their labor. one person produces a good or provides a service, earns money, and uses that money to pay for the work of others. money replaced direct barter and made this exchange much more convenient.

But what happens when human labor is gradually replaced by machines?

For a company owner, automation is extremely attractive. A robot does not need a salary, paid leave, sick days, or a human resources department. It can work around the clock, potentially lowering production costs and increasing profits.

For now, someone who loses their job can still move into another field. But what happens when automation affects most professions? The argument that “new technologies have always created new jobs” does not seem entirely convincing to me.

A calculator, a machine, or a car mostly helped people perform their work more efficiently. Modern AI and robotics are increasingly different. They do not merely assist workers, but directly compete with them and replace them. Robots are becoming capable of interacting with the physical world and performing increasingly complex tasks.

Consider a small society of three people. One catches fish, another make clothes materials, and the third builds houses. Each person specializes in a different kind of work, and they exchange the results. Money acts as an intermediary. The fisher sells fish, earns money, and buys a house. The builder buys clothes, and the person making clothes buys fish.

Now imagine that each of them owns a robot capable of doing their entire job. One robot catches fish, another builds houses, and the third produces clothes. Technically, these people can still trade with one another. But where does their money come from?

If the robots are privately owned, the three people can sell their products to one another. However, the society will quickly become oversaturated. One person does not need thousands of houses, tons of fish, or an endless supply of clothes. Production becomes easy, but there may not be enough people with the income or desire to buy everything being produced.

Now imagine that all three robots belong to one company. That company receives most of the income because it owns the automated production system. The other people lose their wages and can no longer afford to buy the products. The company can produce more than ever, but by replacing its workers, it also destroys the purchasing power needed to sell those products.

This is already visible in smaller ways. Self-checkout machines allow stores to serve roughly the same number of customers with one or two employees instead of ten. The others have to look for different jobs. But what happens when those jobs are automated too?

Some people propose a universal basic income funded by taxes on corporations or automated systems. But why would company owners voluntarily agree to support people who have become economically “unnecessary”? Who would force them to pay those taxes? And what would society look like if most people were no longer needed as workers but were still needed as consumers?

I do not think the main problem is technology itself. The problem is trying to fit rapidly advancing technology into an economic system built around human labor and wages.

If labor stops being the main way people receive money and access resources, capitalism in its current form may face a serious crisis.

So what do you think will happen? Will we develop a new economic system, introduce some form of universal basic income, or will automation simply lead to even greater inequality and concentration of power among the owners of technology?

Do you want the realistic answer or do you want the industry one? Because those ghouls are building bunkers and inventing phrases like "Permanent Underclass"

I honestly believe 10000% that "no one" (business owners) is thinking about this. Everyone only cares about their own little fiefdom, each CEO is chasing the prospect of firing all their employees and running fully automated, drooling over the prospect of keeping all the profits, but none of them give one single solitary fuck about the impact on the economy as a whole. Their only considerations are for themselves. They are not even entertaining the thought that there won't be people to buy things, they're only concerned with their own personal bottom line. I could almost guarantee that if questioned they would say "my competition is going to do it, I'd be stupid not to!"

That last point perfectly illustrates why they are so eager to invest in AI. There is a concept from game theory - specifically the Prisoner's Dilemma and the Nash Equilibrium - where it benefits a small group of individuals to initiate an action that yields short - term gains for them, even though it makes things worse for everyone in the long run. I doubt corporate giants seriously consider the fact that implementing AI is essentially shooting themselves in the foot by suppressing consumer demand for their own products.

Don't believe tech CEOs and marketing, they are only salesmen wholl say anything to make next quarters stock price go up before they jump ship. Long term, I dont think AI replacing human labor is tenable for reasons youve academically stated. There will have to be a tipping point and I don't think anyone knows when that is. There will be places where AI just doesn't work that have been buried by corporate promoters. Maybe there will be a social backlash as continued force feeding of AI products will sour on people and business will start seeing it as unreliable insecure untrustworthy and not in their best interest.

Im sad that art and music may have taken a mortal wounding and may never be the same, and mass surveillance scares me.

Art and music deserve a post of their own. I need to share my thoughts on that, too. I feel deep hatred and anger toward the creators and the fact that corporations simply scrape millions of artworks and music tracks to train their neural networks without ever asking the artists for permission, they basically stole other people's work for free just to train a tool and sell it back to the public

Here's what the people making AI and running businesses think:

They don't care about us. We are on our own, as far as they're concerned. We will have to figure it out ourselves. If we can't figure it out, because they've already stolen everything that isn't nailed down, that sounds like something that is our problem, not their problem.

Because you see, they don't have a problem. Their plan is: defend and isolate themselves from anything we could conceivably do to them. They will have their own robots, their own factories and farms, their own defenses, their own machine-operated pleasure-palace-fortresses, their own safe transportation (by air or orbit if necessary). They have acquired enough capital that they seem to think they can start to arrange this scenario for themselves without needing much additional capital/labor from the rest of us peasants. And that's why they've stopped caring about what we think, or what we buy, or what we do. They don't need to anymore.

What happens next is not necessarily nefarious as much as it is completely apathetic. They honestly don't care about us. They don't care what happens to us. They don't care if we starve. They don't care if the world outside their compounds turns into Max Max, or a firey inferno in between constant floods and droughts. They don't care if we're fighting each other, drone-striking each other, freezing to death in the cold and darkness, choking on smoke and cancer. They don't care. They will not give a shit. They are protected from it, that is their goal and their intention. They will be fine, and they will dismiss all the rest of us as cruel, criminals, barbarians and savages, and they will believe it is right and probably a good thing that we are fighting and starving and dying and killing each other, because of course we are, because we're horrible violent people. They will only need to look at all the fighting and rioting and chaos to confirm their assessment of us. They don't have empathy for us and they don't need it. They've already got theirs, and it's now our time to fuck off (and die). They're not even going to bother doing anything to us. They're going to let us do it to each other, while they ignore and avoid us like the plague they already think we are.

Because they genuinely believe in their own superiority and greatness over ordinary people, I’m more than certain they truly see themselves as being ahead of the rest of the planet and think about how great they are, without ever stopping to consider the consequences for themselves.

Some of them, maybe many, probably will even think they're "saving" the planet by getting rid of the "excess overpopulation". They do not value human lives or human experiences outside their own personal sphere, and I do not think they think those human lives and experiences are worth preserving.

Nothing will happen. This whole AI is build on debt, tax exemptions and government subsidy. Just to give example. Anthropic reported $4B income with $8B loss for 2025 but that's not whole truth. NScale recent s1 filling ( their biggest customer is Anthropic and Microsoft ) shows $492B loss for first 6 months of 2026. So for $4B income people spent $410B. The only way it works is because of tech monopolies like Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon and Nvidia. When / If US chose proper government those companies will fade away and all the AI with them. Same is with Elon, this guy only exists because of government contracts and his corporate monopoly buddies.

For AI to work everyone would need to be millionaire and spend $50k per month on tokens. I won't even mention computing power and power source that would need to grow at least thousand times. That is impossible to do. Imagine US suddenly starts giving people $1M per year for tokens. They have $4T debt mostly in Japan and Middle East. Inflation will skyrocket that they won't be able to pay this back.

Every scenario that says AI and robots will replace people is surreal image created by billionaires to sell their products to masses that believe this crap and can afford to put money to the void. They might as well go to casino.

What they'll do instead is automate fines, taxes, arrests, and a million microtasks that people have to respond to while they are so tired they can't even keep up with what's going on and have no time to fix it.

Now AI is going to fine people for property violations observed from garbage truck cameras, and people who don't have 20 hours to navigate impossible bot menus over the phone to contest it will just pay and they'll keep stealing money from everyone. Example is a fine because that new tree you planted was misidentified as overgrown grass and now you have to pay a $100 fine.

AI is making things worse for everyone under terrible governments. It will not replace us, but it will make us as miserable as possible until it ends up crashing the world economy and killing millions of people.

People who have money will spend money on something whether you agree or not. System is unfair and that's what I agree with. The problem is that AI is topic number one and only that encourage people with money spend money on AI and that's why AI is happening. Blame media for that. If media would not push agenda with AI and billionaires saying stupid shit to pump up hype nobody would care about that. Just read press announcements and get back in time to read some children books. That's the same shit right now. They are selling dystopian dreams to gain investors money because their pockets are empty.

Evil wolf will eat children. Fucking fairy will turn you to pig. AI will kill everyone. The computer that needs cooling, power and clean dry space, robots that needs service because they malfunction every hour would kill someone ? Robots that need 1000 parts from around the globe start revolution ? That's bullshit man. That was same hype 10 years ago when robot killed someone during industry 4.0 bullshit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_Industrial_Revolution the same hype with sub primes and everyone afford a house, the same hype with crypto and gpu prices. It's just like this world works.

There are whales that have money to spend and some clowns that try to grab money from them.

The only fact that this is happening is because people are reading this bullshit and talking about it like in elementary school. Who cared about some cartoon if nobody watched it ? If nobody talks about AI it will end in three months and go back to labs where it belongs. There is just no other hot topic that is happening that can get the hype and gather whales with money. This is also difficult to do if some idiot is selling you eternal life or some other utopia and you are hypnotized so much you are just standing with pile of money and sucking his dick despite his wife was luxury pimp ( Dario Amodei I'm talking about you, piece of shit).

In fact some people still don't care and are living simple life. Nobody forces you to live in dystopian place, there is plenty of space around this planet. The only problem is in your brain.

I like to put AIs hyped impact on society in perspective by thinking about it like this:

There are huge data centers with gobs of processing that have had free access to decades of raw detailed scientific data freely shared by medical researchers across every discipline, and AI has yet to cure a single disease.

Are we sure this thing will replace all humans?

Your example regarding scientific papers is indeed valid and demonstrates that AI is still a long way off from handling complex calculations and scientific research. However, the discussion here isn't about scientific inquiry, but rather about the replacement of humans in simpler roles a process that is already underway...

The workers must force them to

This is basically Capitalism 101. As a capitalist, I want to collect ALL the profits and pay zero expenses.

What these idiots don’t seem to understand is that with no workers, there will be no one to buy their goods and services, and their expenses will actually go up because AI tokens are a recurring expense, and if you don’t pay for the tokens, your whole business just stops.

The Suits leading the AI-replacement drive just think it'll be "The ones who didn't get replaced." They're either convinced that AI replacement will be incomplete enough to leave an economic niche for them still, or that they'll somehow just get in on the replacement profit train early enough while there are still people with money.

If any of them do actually recognize a risk of the population at large no longer having income to buy their products, they're unwilling to be the "one company" that loses out on the potential profit by doing the right thing, convinced that they would not stop this economic apocalypse but only manage to economically destroy themselves.

Seems like a Tragedy of the Commons situation.

Well, either we do some kind of income tax, just not on a human salary, but on income generated by robots. And give that to the now unemployed people. Or we find some dirty work for them to do.

They probably don't care. The megacorporations will find a way to float on top. There's enough scifi movies about it.
