    Anyone here played Dread? I have a Metroidvania itch and after trying and hating Blasphemous I was thinking about trying Dread.

    Dread is really good. It has all the parts from the Metroid II remake that felt like they didn't work and polishes them up nicely.

    It's also a lot more streamlined than Super Metroid despite having a much larger map. There's less Bombing Everything to figure out where to go without feeling oversimplified

    Honestly probably one of the best 2D Metroid games. A bit of a different formula than the classics and felt more linear, but it's a damn good game

    The game draws a lot from Easter (Holy Week) in Spain. The protagonist of the game wears a cone-shaped "hat" (and is even called "the penitent one") like the penitents that march that time of the year in real life.

    Thanks. To be honest I quite liked the protagonist and his conical hat. I also wish my nickname was The Penitent One. It sounds cool even though it doesn't apply to me. The game's themes were very intriguing but the gameplay just wasn't fun for me. It felt like an NES-era platformer where the difficulty comes from being annoying as fuck.

    It's pretty good. It runs pretty well on PC ROM emulator if that's an option for you.
