Here's how you can make pretty good coffee at home with this $0.99 pour over funnel from IKEA!

First, grind your freshly roasted specialty beans on this $1200 tabletop grinder, then fold a cone from this $1 a pop paper filter, now place your coffee mug on this designer scale with a built-in timer for only $399. Remember to boil your water in a $500 pot, and then you're ready to pour!!!

    Blender3D tutorials be like:

"Here's how to do that thing in Blender you're probably struggling with. This is my example object where I've done that thing, and the technique is quite easy once you learn how. First you'll need this $40 specialised plug-in..."

Save a bunch of money on this $150 product by only spending $20 in materials!

Now just take those materials to your garage workspace filled with thousands of dollars of tools and equipment ...

One that gets me is when they go 'ok now let's put this into the fridge for 24 hours and then it'll be ready for tomorrow!'

Ok well I'm hungry now so we're skipping that step.

Does nobody read the whole recipe before starting to cook something new? Does nobody plan firther than two hours ahead?

I can barely plan further than two minutes ahead. By the time I’m done work, daughter is picked up, and get home, I’m basically on a 2.5 hour time crunch to make dinner for us, clean up, get her cleaned up, play a little bit with her, then have her changed, maybe a bath depending on the night, and off to bed. Usually anything I can’t have from unprepped ingredients to fully cooked ready to eat meal in under an hour just gets skipped. My wife doesn’t get home from work until after our daughter is asleep.

I do miss longer prep time meals though. I genuinely enjoy cooking but I only have time on my days off and I usually want to be doing something else during those days (either go out with my daughter and wife, deep clean the place, or another hobby).

We live in an age of convenience and instant gratification that has the majority of people accustomed to never needing to plan ahead.

We live in an age of late stage capitalism where people are working twice as much as before and don't have nearly as much time to plan ahead.

The fact we live in late stage capitalism and have our time eaten up by forced toil just makes it that much more important that we learn to plan ahead.

So because we're asked to do more it's more important to do more.

    Important? Sure. Possible? No.

why? It's interesting as a gaimmick, sure, and it preserves vitamins in fruit, but it also alters the taste of some and generally there is rarely any case where you actually can benefit from the extremely increased shelf life it provides that can't be done cheaper with normal preparation methods or by simply buy preserved foods from the store. Not to mention that these things take a lot of energy.

I have a large garden. each year I'm able to preserve enough food to last me all winter.

having the ability to freeze dry over regular dehydrating would expand my food stores from 4-6 months to 8-12.

imagine going to the grocery store once every 3 months to buy common items like sugar, coffee, etc.

right now my monthly grocery bill is like $200 for a family of five.

food preservation is integral to reducing that further.
