speech-side-r-1 It is difficult for me to imagine what "personal liberty" is enjoyed by an unemployed person, who goes about hungry, and cannot find employment. Real liberty can exist only where exploitation has been abolished, where there is no oppression of some by others, where there is no unemployment and poverty, where a man is not haunted by the fear of being tomorrow deprived of work, of home and of bread. Only in such a society is real, and not paper, personal and every other liberty possible. speech-side-r-2 stalin-gun-1stalin-gun-2

I have a coworker who lost it when Mamdani won.

He said those damn communist were trying to infest the country, and it would go the same way that happened to China. They'd start small with state run grocery stores and free public transportation, then before we know it he'll try to give out free health insurance to everyone.

I asked him if he really thought Mamdani was really trying to turn new York into China with all the worker and Tennant rights he was suggesting. If he really thought socialism was the same as communist China and asked him to think about it for a second. He genuinely was horrified that I wasn't outraged and protesting in the street to get him removed from office. We don't live in new York and it affects us in 0 ways.

He's not the healthiest person, he says having the opportunity to have medical debt is freedom and even though the tax increase would be nothing compared to the cost of private insurance, he would never take a "handout".... Nuts

Yeah, they'd never be able to just get a different number and keep spamming.

Edit: Sorry, that was uncalled for.

    Edit 2: Pun not intended.
