The devil is in the details. If you look at the "Lake America" executive order, it includes stuff like preventing US government bodies from engaging in any contracts that refer to the lake by any other name, so they actually start applying substantial pressure on all kinds of organizations to adopt the name or face losing real business. It isn't just an a rose by any other name would smell as sweet kind of deal. It's an a rose by any other name will be cut off from government contracts so get in line and make sure you adopt it or suffer kind of deal for many businesses around the region. This includes any Canadian business that does any work with the US government, which is a lot of businesses.

Except it messes with our stuff because we are so closely tied to the US, and sadly our government has not done enough to seperate us from US infrastructure. I woke up startled from a nap I was having yesterday afternoon and thought I should see what services the RCMP use for things like email. The RCMP use microslop for email, so I started my keyboard warrior stuff writing to my MP when I had the bright idea to check up on official parliment emails and shocker it was microslop as well. Because Redikopp is a back benching conservative I thought I shoud send an email to the minister in charge of the RCMP but than I had this idea to check out the other police services we have at the federal level and all there it lay all out on servers provided by microslop and amazon.

Sounds like we need to start a series of jokes.

Q: What do they call Healthcare in the USA?

    A: Crippling debt!

Q: How do they fairly elect a president in the USA?

A: They find the poorest most uneducated people and make sure their votes are worth much more than other citizens!

Why Pennsylvania, why not Lake America instead? Stop thinking of just your own state, Maloney. /s 🐍

So what stops you from renaming Pennsylvania to Erie?

That's an easy one - racism. "Erie" is a Native American/First Nations name. "Pennsylvania" is "Penn's Woods", honoring a white European colonizer.

4 great lakes are native names, and idk how many states, at least half I would hazard. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, I think Montana, idk Idaho, Wyoming maybe, Mississippi, Missouri, and so forth. I think not sure on all of these.

I fail to see how renaming Pennsylvania to Erie is racism regardless of the etymology of both names.

I think he means that because it's a first Nations name they wouldn't do it.

Yes this. Trump was happy to rename Ontario, the name the lake has held for centuries, even before Europeans arrived. There is a reason Canadas First Nations are deeply pro crown, republican Quebec or Alberta would follow America in replacing all things indigenous with their white alternatives.
