The repression of activists from Hong Kong does not stop beyond its borders. The Hong Kong and Chinese governments use 'transnational repression' tactics to monitor, threaten and silence dissenting voices in the UK.

We have documented their surveillance and intimidation of overseas students, and how they put £100,000 bounties over the heads of 19 overseas activists. This year, a UK immigration officer, Chung Biu "Bill" Yuen was found guilty of using a Home Office database to track down activists and people from Hong Kong claiming asylum in the UK.

The UK is home to the largest Hong Kong diaspora community, and an important base of their activism. Add your voice below and call on the UK government to act now and protect Hongkongers in the UK.

Amnesty's Uncensored mapping and digital visualisation project compiles more than 800 media entries, offering a way to explore the different forms, contexts and patterns of censorship reported in Hong Kong and how they have unfolded over time. The mapping is not an exhaustive record of every act of censorship in Hong Kong during this period. Multiple media entries may relate to the same incident, so the number of entries does not represent a count of individual cases.
