I recall wanting to draw a robot around the design language of motorcycles and motorcycle fairings, without it looking like a 2000s era Transformer. This was around 2009 I guess.

I kind of like the asymmetricalness added by the shoulder shield.

Thanks! Yeah I was imagining a lot of the robot would be nearly unarmoured except for a thin side-facing profile. This unit was designed for staying mobile and strafing enemy positions with covering fire. It wouldn't even bother to face the target with its sensor cluster, since its main defense is being hard to hit and avoiding obstacles. Cropped out: wheels, or possibly just un-powered skates to facilitate parkour manouvres.

Considering that we are drowning in ever-increasing bland generic slop, this might as well be treated as an ancient artifact of a bygone era

Don't let the turkeys get you down, there's still paper and pencils.

Posting a lot of old stuff because I'm feeling kind of creatively fallow at the moment, trying to prime the pump while also making some sense of my progress over the years.

I'm still completely in support of human-created art, and I am practising it in multiple forms like drawing, playing music, writing etc. But it feels like a flame of a candle fighting against a hurricane.

I used to draw a lot of doodles and comics back in my time. I miss the level of creativity and goofiness I put in my drawings back then and I know I won't be able to recreate it no matter how hard I try.

There is a playfulness and openness to ideas in youth that feels very far away. Part of my headwork right now is to try to hold ideas lightly and think laterally while still bringing all my skills to the table. Getting old and not sucking is more complicated than I'd imagined.
