I had an old Android phone. The USB-C charger wore out at a time when money was tight. I was dreading what I was going to do, I was at a friend's place and they had a wireless charger so I have it a try. I thought my phone was too old but it did in fact have wireless charging. I was able to get another 1.5 years of life out of it! Until that day I thought wireless charging was a gimmick, but it really came in clutch for me!

Anyway I finally purchased the phone that I've wanted for years, a Fairphone 6. I live in Canada so I had to buy it through a third party seller and it shipped with Android, but I installed e/OS on it myself. It doesn't have wireless charging, but it's designed so I can buy and install a new charging port myself as needed.

I plan to use this phone for the full 7 years of guaranteed support, and further as possible.

If you don't want Android you can also buy a Google Pixel (which sucks but it's the option right now) and install GrapheneOS or e/OS. Apparently e/OS has broader support than I realized too, so you can research those too if you want an Android fork that isn't official Android.

Sounds like it’s about time for a new one tbh. Anything you get will be a generational leap, not to mention your battery must be running on fumes at this point.

No reason to sit on a hill you don’t need to, especially if your discretionary budget has money for a new one.

The iPhone 17 was a fantastic value this year, and Chinese brands are now dominating the Android market in terms of quality and features to where it’s not even a competition anymore.

Maybe check out some of the Chinese offerings, Oppo, Honor, OnePlus, etc.

Have you tried a different cable? I have had plenty of lightning cables die even when they don’t look visibly worn on the outside (plus many more that are very obviously falling apart).
