The attack occurred when four members of the news team were interviewing Aida Ahmed Abdullah and her family in the Palestinian town of Jalud, near Nablus.

Abdullah told the outlet that they had been driven out of their home by settlers, and the team was walking down a hill toward the house.

A car with Israeli license plates reversed up the hill toward them. At least four men with their faces covered leapt from the vehicle, hitting them with sticks and throwing rocks.

“They jumped out, beat us, then jumped back in the car,” said NBC News correspondent Matt Bradley. Bradley was hit twice in the arm and treated at a nearby clinic.

Benjamin Netanyahu said he condemned the violence committed “by a handful of rioters”.

TheGuardian shoving in Israeli propaganda at the first possibility of course

That's how journalism is done. You give your subject a right of reply, quote them verbatim, and with a bit of luck they'll come out sounding as ridiculous as here.

It's not. You examine and provide context for their claim. Many people believe this ridiculius statement by Netanyahu.

It certainly shouldn't be at the top of the article. This is how propaganda is done.

Offering a right of reply to those who are the subject of significant criticism or allegations of wrongdoing is a fairness obligation under the Ofcom Broadcasting Code.

Details of how the BBC ensures that they are compliant.

And while I'm not a journalist myself, I have a front seat view to how this is done.

Would you prefer they said "we asked Ben and we don't think you'd like what he said so we won't share it"

I'd prefer a disclaimer about the violence being systemic. They are armed and supported by Israel. Instead we get an attempt to decouple it.

Chris Hedges recently exellently explained how this systemic mediawhitewashing of Israel works
