I just breathe real slow for like 2 mins and by the time I start breathing manually, it's gone. Nothing painful, nothing required.

Hold your breath count to 10 in your head if you hiccup start again until you get to 10

Breathe shallow but slow, relax. Hickup is a cramp in the diaphragm, mostly caused through stress.

Spoonful of vinegar does the trick

Hiccups suck so bad, people will try all manner of crazy witchcraft to get rid of them.

Ever get hiccups together with acid reflux? That's an extra special level of hell.

My wife gets bad hiccups sometimes. I meanwhile can just control my diaphragm and stop hiccuping on command. She doesn't seem to find that very fair.

You can't really do it to yourself, but I've had really good luck ending other people's hiccups by offering them $5 if they hiccup again

Holding my breath works for me, or maybe it just passes the time. Usually goes away in about 2 full breaths.

Yeah. Oxygen deprivation releases the reflex, but you have to hold your breath, so long that it hurts.

There have actually been studies why that is.

Hiccups are actually caused by a microorganism called "hickey" getting into your lungs. When you hold your breath, you flood the organism with carbon dioxide, which kills enough of it that your immune system can handle the rest easily. If you want to read up more about it, Google search "how to remove chest hickeys"

Gargling and/or drinking upside down have always worked for me. Hiccups suck

Drinking from the far side of a glass has never not stopped my hiccups

I've never understood why people tolerate the hiccups. You just keep holding your breath. If you hiccup while holding your breath you take another breath and start again until it's gone. I've never had the hiccups for more than a minute.

My dog having the hiccups is the cutest thing ever. But everything he does is cute. Burping is cute too.

Eat a tablespoon of peanut butter. It works.

So, I'm glad I'm not the only one...

I despise the hiccups, and do nothing else until I can get rid of them.

Holding my breath and drinking while continuing to hold my breath works pretty well for me if I can't straight up will them away!

My family thinks it's funny how much I hate them.

Plug your ears and drink water.

    Or drink water upside down.

These are the treatments that seem to work the best
