    Those patches look like Bujinkan. But that doesn't say very much though, because the International Bujinkan was already pretty loose, heterogeneous, and decentralized in reality even before the head, Hatsumi Masaaki, retired and divided headship of the ryu among his senior students in 2019. There had already been groups that had not been paying dues or checking in for a long time back then.

    I really can't tell if Hatsumi was cynical or naively sincere in his rhetoric about international peace and understanding. On the one hand, his childhood and teen years were when his country was losing a war of aggression and he may have been exposed to firebombing, rationing, and periods of state abandonment at that time. Yet he didn't refuse international students even when they were US and israeli security types.
