Another one for the "scattered notes you find on the floor in a Resident Evil game" folder
So about 0.019% of the number of neurons in a single human brain?
Holy shit I've been running a personal ultra-scale data center my whole life without even knowing it.
The first artificial neural networks were tiny by modern standards. Even if we allow this demonic technology to develop further, it’s possible that part of or even most of our mammalian neural anatomy will prove superfluous for computing purposes, allowing them to use simpler and lower-energy organoids instead.
Someone out there living my dream of being a cartoonishly evil scientist engineer
Have people learned nothing from Frankenstein by Mary Shelly? If it was upto me that facility would have been blown to smithereens for crime against life.
I could go on about how this is a stupid untenable idea on so many levels but even engaging with it on that level is denigrating the intelligence of everyone involved. It's just more shock marketing to hoover investment from venture capital idiots, it works because everyone picks up these stories and go "duuuuudeee, they're making the horrors, whhooooaaa"
This is par for the course in robotics where chinese robots are windmill kicking each other's heads off while western companies have to appeal with this horror-marketing for their shitty product that won't go anywhere. Some recent examples:
