Let's go improvement mega, got the maintenance job been doing great. Boss loves me, staff loves me residents love me it's great. Been doing a lot of walking heavy lifting and so much sweating. When I got the time I listen to audiobooks and I'm also been eating less.
Also talking some PLC classes at night, I wanna get a better job after this and I been encouraging my sibling to come along and also take some robotics classes too boot. When we both start working it'll be something good and all this effort will be worth it
Reposting from my comment in the general mega: After a couple false starts, I finally made it 3 days without weed. To keep myself busy I've walked every day in the last week and read 3 books! Pretty confident in myself to keep going, I think the worst is over
I read a collection of short stories about WW1, but that was a bit depressing ( ) so I switched to the Master and Commander series and I've been tearing through them. Would highly recommend
I recently read All Quiet on the Western Front, which is a great short novel about the WWI, highly recommended if you're into that subject. Haven't seen the movie yet but it's on the list
The collection I just read had a few chapters lifted from it as standalone short stories actually. I've read it in its entirety before as well, though it's been a while. The recent movie was pretty decent for what it was, I enjoyed it pretty well but couldn't remember enough of the book to compare them directly
Keeping myself distracted is the most important thing for me when I need a break. Once I'm through the first one or two days, its pretty smooth sailing from there.
It sounds like you're over the hump, and being very productive at the same time! Good luck with your sobriety!
Its been a down year so far. After starting up working out again I had a couple of life things that threw me off course all over again. Haven't been to the gym or worked out for the past month and a half.
I have picked up voice acting as a bit of a hobby. Just seeing what projects I can be a part of online.
Some good news, back to walking daily and trying to eat right (although today I had pasta, yesterday too). Also seeing about getting back to work soon somehow. Something wfh would be ideal, but I'm not sure how in demand those are and people fighting for them.
Getting 8 hours of sleep and going to sleep on time is non-negotiable for me, I'm not one of those people who can wing it on 5 hours of sleep. I want to get better at my evening routine since it's crucial for good sleep
I've been trying to get back into coding after more than a year on disability from my job due to burnout and some other mental health issues I've been trying to resolve. I switched my Linux window manager from MangoWC which still feels very alpha to Niri which is a lot more mature and polished. It feels like a good move and I've been updating my configs to make the move permanent.
I've also been exploring some live coding. I've always wished I could make music in one way or another and live coding to do so is taking advantage of a skill that I already have. I first tried to get TidalCycles working, but failed so I fell back to Strudel which runs in a browser. I don't love that you can't run it locally though so I took another swing at getting TidalCycles working yesterday and was successful this time!
