Per title. We knew it was coming some day, tho perhaps not this soon. Will you be upset if you need ugly adapter to make your extensive + expensive watchband collection work?

No, after 10 years of band compatibility I think that’s more than enough for an accessory. The Apple Watch innovation can’t be stopped to support the previous bands.

next innovation will come with watch band adapter for $9.99 and $14.99 for titanium version

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Only? I’d say more like 69.90$ and 99.90$

What innovation would require a switch up other than making more money? Design doesn’t need to change to welcome innovation imo

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

imo it could look more seamless going into the watch. pixel watch has a clever design.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

That would be a nice change. What I don't like at the moment is the part that you push into the watch. In some combinations the colors don't match and look just bad.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Innovation? You’re joking right?

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

I won't be upset, but I don't think that will happen. I also don't think there will be an "Apple Watch X" as opposed to an S10 and Ultra 3.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Interesting! So you don’t think they’ll capitalize on “anniversary edition”? Something that makes those before it .. from across a room .. look “vintage”? Like seeing someone w/iP Home Button, Touch Bar Mac or inch wide bezel on iPad? For some, I think The Look outweighs features.

I’m out of the loop, are they just changing the way the bands connect so existing ones won’t work?

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Real

EU requires watchbands to be USB-Compatible

My condolences m8

Your existing watchbands are good as dead

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Thanks. Please help me understand how the watchbands will be affected by USB-C.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Cool pun .. “Loop”!! Just wondering about “coming” rumors that always arrive as soon as latest model of anything drops.

It will be the Lightning vs USB-C debate all over again /s

I doubt this is going to happen. Even if it does, I won't care that much.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Thx! We’ll see

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

I’m open minded if there is a good reason for it but I don’t see how the current design can be substantially improved upon. It’s both very secure and very easy to switch bands.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Thanks! Some say current bands take up space that could be used to slim down and modernize AW appearance.

My band from the first Apple Watch fits my Ultra. I'm happy they've lasted that long and look forward to new strap innovations whether they lose existing compatibility or not.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Thanks!! Interesting! I guess I thought the Ultra was its own, special animal.

Thx! Kinda, sorta, me too

I just hope that we alternative watch wearers (who wear it on the underside of our wrist) can opt for a widescreen orientation.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Thanks! Now that would be a great option. Nurse here. Lots of us do that with analog watches.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

If anything it’s impressive that they’ve kept the same design this long. Change is inevitable though, and the current connector is pretty bulky relative to the size of the device. If they can reduce that and fit in more tech or more battery instead, that’s definitely preferable!

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Yeah this rumor had me not buy one of the ultra bands for 50% off at target. I plan on getting a new watch next year as I have the 5 currently unless it continues to last me through next year

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

I think you’ll be fine!! 3 years later, my AW6 is still doing great. Aside from the battery drain after OS10. That’s improved now. My adult kid is still wearing her AW3!

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Ingot the S8 on launch, so I'll probably wait till XII to buy a new watch.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Smart move. Like cars .. do we want to first see how a completely re-designed model works out?

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Even tho I still have about 15 bands I used on my Series watches, I really only use 3 bands for my Ultra and they are all designed for the Ultra.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

I have 4 bands. I’ll be fine.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Thx. You’re a lot smarter than some of us!

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

I’m doubtful they’ll change it is such a way as to require entirely new bands. I’m skeptical of the magnetic attachment rumors. We already have warnings about magnetic bands and the compass. So now they’ll add magnets directly to the watch? Apple patents and explores a lot of ideas that never come to market.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

You may be onto something! I got ONE on-screen message right after OS10 update that my watch might not be compatible with my band. I was wearing official, graphite Milanese!

I only have 3 different bands, 2 of which came with watches and 1 which was a $30 knockoff. I wouldn’t be too fussed

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

You’re smarter than I am. But .. I’m almost cured of my obsession!

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Shhhh!!! They’re going to skip the 9th generation again!

I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than £10 for a strap

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Really??? Wow!! I need that level of control

On the whole I wouldn’t be massively bothered, as it would be an excuse to buy more 😂 I guess I would be pretty annoyed I couldn’t use my £350 metal link bracelet anymore though!

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

Yes! There’s THAT!! Me too.
