The recent dock sharing post surprised me because of how many people had the Phone app in the dock.

I personally open it maybe once a month if I have to call a number I don’t have in my phone and if I call anyone I know it’s just through the Messages app since it’s all right there on the contact. Because of this I haven’t had the phone app on my dock for years.

Am I generally alone in this or were non Phone app users just not very present in that thread?

The Phone app to me is like a fire extinguisher: I don’t use it every day but when I do, it’s usually an emergency and I wanna make sure it’s where I left it.

I use the phone often, maybe daily, but it’s. It in my dock. I have several apps that supersede the phone

It’s down there but I don’t use it often, but if I need to make a call, it’s a lot faster than trying to find it in a folder or searching for it.

It’s called a phone

I don’t use it for that purpose often, but that’s still primarily what I see it as.

FaceTime, messages, phone, and contacts on my dock.

After all, it is a phone. Lol.

Dang that’s some feature overlap there you’re the first I’ve seen to have contacts as well.

iPhone 7 is slow enough you can’t search a contact with spotlight and it instantly comes up.

All this comment section really does is show username age. “Looking to dial a number is exhausting that’s why it’s always docked.” Bro swipe down search phone.

even if i don't use it all the time, it just feels like sacrilege to move it. i've always had phone and text next to each other and camera on the right. and usually a browser in between.

taking the phone icon out just feels super weird.

I use it daily. It's quicker to open the phone app and tap a speed dial contact than any other option(besides widgets but that's ugly IMO).

Phone, Maps, and Messages are the apps in my dock and will be for the foreseeable future.

My dock has remained the same for like 10 years.

phone, messages, signal (this spot has changed), settings.

I just like having the core functions of the phone always there.

Great question. I’m about to remove my SIM card from my phone cause I just don’t use that app lol.

You don’t need to use the phone app to make phone calls lol

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Absolutely. It’s kinda curious to me the level of attention Apple gives to that app really.

Nope, Bose connector because I switch a lot between three devices during the day, WhatsApp, Firefox, and Bitwarden for my passwords.

Anyone who doesn’t do phone calls should rethink that. You get instant feedback, there is no written record, and you don’t have to awkwardly look at someone’s face.
