The agreement with BETA means that Loganair becomes Europe’s first commercial airline operating an electric aircraft fleet.

If it only goes 100 miles, why wouldn't you just take a train?

Because nobody thought to build a rail connection to the Orkney islands.

Difficult when the sea is in the way. Or the terrain is impractical for a low volume route.

Don't suppose we could get an electric hovercraft?
