Why not call the process of coding - enbugging?..

Because then you have to release the cranes to catch frogs after they're done and cranes are assholes

Swallows eat bugs too. We could call it "swallowing."

You could even have African swallowing, European swallowing, etc.

Now, don't get me started on coconuts.

IIRC didn't the term debugging come from back when computers used vacuum tubes, and there was an issue where a technician removed a moth to fix the issue, thus "debugging" the system?

Maybe it's not a true story, but I believe that's the origin.

frogging is also the term for unraveling a knit garment to correct a mistake

Ok, makes sense. I’m a convert. Frogging it is.

Because frogging sounds like you're out to catch frogs.

Debugging, when it was coined, was a unique word with no predefined meaning. So it couldn't be confused with anything else.

The prefix "de" is commonly understood to be the act of removing something (I'm not a languager, you know what I mean). And "bug" was the term for an issue in hardware/software.

So DE-BUG-ING is a nice unique word for the act of removing hardware/software bugs!

Ok but, like, have you actually seen a frog hunt? It's a miracle they even survive a week in the wild. They're cute but also incredibly stupid. Frogging would be the least efficient way to debug your code, I would imagine

"Frogging" sounds like some kind of sex act. Like the evolution of "dogging"
