Is still claiming to be a Democrat? Good grief.

[-] AlexLost@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

Oh no! The traitor wants to flee? Boo-urns!

[-] canniest_tod@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago

If Fetterman leaves, who else will vote in tandem with the Republicans on every bill?

[-] xenomor@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago

Don’t worry, these are Democrats we are talking about. They will find a way.

[-] watson387@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 hours ago

Definitely. Fool me once...

[-] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 hours ago

Makes sense. He lied about his allegiances from the gitgo. He should move across the floor and be with his own people. John! Take a stand!

He stroked out and turned into an ass or maybe he hid his true self.

They have a space opening up for a near brain-dead representative controlled by the people in his staff.

I think there is a few weeks until it is open but Aug 4th comes around and he can go make his move to the great state of Kentucky.

Yes, I know he doesn't need to move there but it would be best for his constituents.

[-] dan1101@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago

He is mentally disabled, but anyone who votes for him in any future election is ignorant or stupid.

[-] corbindallas@fedinsfw.app 1 points 5 hours ago

WE KNOW

until the Purge is legalized and the citizenry bands together to fucking hang politicians...

this.

[-] bedifferent@mastodon.social 1 points 4 hours ago

@corbindallas @Iusedtobeanalien Yes. It will. It's was just thinking about the brave soldiers reporting to hitler saying, "Hang Mike Pence." Then wondered what was next. It will continue.

[-] _chris@lemmy.world 31 points 13 hours ago

He left the day he was elected, he just neglected to make a big announcement about it.

[-] Folstar@lemmus.org 14 points 11 hours ago

It makes it very difficult to believe the Democratic party isn't just controlled opposition when they tolerate the Manchins and Fettermans of the world. Bending over backwards to appease someone who clearly hates you so you can have an on paper advantage with absolutely no real world application is... actually, having listened to Democratic Strategists speak, that checks out. My bad.

[-] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 38 points 13 hours ago

Future medical researchers will write entire textbook chapters on this guy, and the impact of strokes on the foundational aspects of a person's socio/political identity.

Or...it will eventually be revealed at some point, that he simply sold out to AIPAC, and this had nothing to do with his brain at all.

[-] sychthys@lemmy.world 19 points 13 hours ago

It didnt. He was a supreme shitbag before the stroke. He just went even harder mask-off after.

[-] shweddy@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago

Aipac probably paid his hospital bills

[-] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 5 points 6 hours ago

He's a senator. We pay his hospital bills

[-] infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net 2 points 12 hours ago

Why not both

[-] automaton@lemmy.world 8 points 10 hours ago

Don't threaten me with a good time

[-] MisterCurtis@lemmy.world 20 points 13 hours ago

I feel bad for his constituents. Pennsylvania disserves better representation and not the medication or stoke induced thing they have going on now. I'm curious if they feel represented by this damaged brain.

[-] infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net 19 points 12 hours ago

His approval has plummeted so badly that it's a historic precedent, he's less popular than any Democrat senator that has lost a primary in this century.

Since Fetterman’s election, his net approval with Pennsylvania Democrats has dropped 108 points, from +68 in 2023 to -40 in 2026

But Pennsylvanians are stuck with him until 2028.

[-] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 12 points 9 hours ago

Just a another example of why every State needs a way to recall their representatives.

Even if that is just removing them. At those rates it seems Pennsylvanians would rather have no representative than Fetterman.

[-] watson387@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 hours ago

Exactly. The choice was between Fetterman and Dr. fucking Oz. At th3 time, Fetterman was obviously the lesser of two evils, although it's obvious now that it was a losing situation all around.

[-] BillyClark@piefed.social 4 points 9 hours ago

Just like the name suggests, in a "representative" democracy, elected politicians are expected to "represent" their constituents. (A Senator is a type of representative for that definition.)

That means that it is in your best interests as a constituent to elect a person who has the same political beliefs as you do, because you can't predict all of the things that are going to happen, so you want somebody who is like you, so that it's likely that they'll do whatever you would have wanted them to do in any given situation.

But when that doesn't happen, as is obviously the case with Fetterman, it is then the representative's job to figure out what their constituents in aggregate want and to vote that way, regardless. Otherwise, they're not representing their constituents.

Yes, there are obviously exceptions due to things like trading favors, but essentially, a representative should be able to say, "Look, I didn't do what I think you wanted me to do, but here's why, if you were in the same situation, you'd have made the same choice as me."

My point is that you can't poll that low and even pretend that you're doing your job as a representative. If you poll that low, you should just resign on the spot.

[-] 800XL@lemmy.world 15 points 13 hours ago

Fuck Fetterman

[-] fyzzlefry@retrolemmy.com 6 points 11 hours ago

How has he not been kicked out?

[-] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 13 hours ago

Wait, Fetterman is a Democrat?

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 11 points 13 hours ago

In terms of party and caucus headcount, yes, he was elected on the DNC ticket in PA and betrayed his conatituents.

In terms of actual policy, no, he pretty muck spits on the platform at every turn.

[-] kr4ster@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

No need to threaten.. Take your hoodie and gtfo..

[-] bigbangdangler@reddthat.com 6 points 12 hours ago

This is about the tenth time I've seen reporting about this, and I'm not sure why this stupid fuck hasn't left yet. Is it the concussions?

[-] aarch0x40@piefed.social 8 points 13 hours ago
[-] sin_free_for_00_days@sopuli.xyz 8 points 12 hours ago

Yeah, DINO and RINO are usually not used correctly, but he is in fact a Republican in all but official label.

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 6 points 13 hours ago

John Fetterman literally isn't getting back in next election no matter what and holds no real capability to tip the majority, so idgaf what he thinks.

[-] ulkesh@piefed.social 4 points 12 hours ago

Please. No. Don’t.

Anyway…

[-] infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net 4 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

His handlers predict that the senate will gain too many Democrats in November for his vote to be an impasse, so they'll try to use him to strengthen Republican numbers instead.

[-] Fizz@lemmy.nz 3 points 12 hours ago

Unless he is replaced this is not a good thing. Find a way to befriend him someone go sit with him at lunch hes lonely.

[-] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

The only way to befriend him is unlimited money and cruelty. This is why he's fully in the pocket of Israel. Since those are his interests, maybe giving him unlimited civil liability and more bullying may move the needle. Being pro-genocide shouldn't be the easy position to take anywhere. More ridicule of him on the streets should help.

[-] Fizz@lemmy.nz 1 points 4 hours ago

Ok? So give him money and cruelty let him go kick fat old republicans idc. Dems need to win as many seats as possible to enact any reasonable amount of change.

[-] kurmudgeon@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

He's already left reality. Wish he'd leave humanity as well.
