I have to upload my passport page to get my autism assessment and I still haven't done it and I don't want to, but I've been trying to get this assessment on and off for years :(

@Gonzako Shameless plug, I made an extension to try and bypass this on some sites! Free and open source too.

Now when we apply to jobs in the US, we have to agree to a privacy policy that says we agree to phone spam when they share our data to third parties.

I hate everything about this timeline.

[-] GenericUsername 3 points 8 hours ago

They're just open about it now. For 10+ years I always noticed how my telemarketing phone calls would go up almost immediately after I applied for a couple jobs.

[-] TwoBeeSan@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

Spam calls increased 10 fold when I started applying.

Some jobs ask for your social before you can even submit.

I hate it too.

I don't want to protect my children. CHECKMATE TECHBROS!!!!!!

[-] LittleBorat3@lemmy.world 16 points 14 hours ago

I would rather jack off with my mind and meet people IRL if this idiocy continues.

At some point there's an endpoint to enshitification, at which people say FU I am going to live in the forest now. I am pretty close.

I’m there if it wasn't for fucking property tax.

[-] mangobanana@discuss.online 9 points 12 hours ago

I was so enraged when I went to go log into the retirement system website (state employee) and I had to sign up for fucking id.me to log in. Ridiculous bullshit. WHY? Who the fuck is going to log on and look at my retirement statement? Not like I can actually retire any time soon with no health insurance fuckers

Why can't we just create physical, one time use tokens and sell them at gas stations and convenience stores for the privacy minded? Show your ID to the clerk to get the token for whatever platform you want to use. Problem solved.

[-] Dead_or_Alive@lemmy.world 22 points 12 hours ago

Because then they couldn’t track your online habits and use it for profit.

[-] pdot4@lemmy.zip 5 points 12 hours ago

Hi sir,

5 pornhub tokens please And shi gimme some rule tokens as well..

[-] LuminousLuddite@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago

I meant like a general use token not tied to any specific platform.

[-] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 5 points 12 hours ago

Yeah, but I would still rather buy pornhub tokens at the gas station than upload my id online.

[-] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

If you're already buying condoms you might as well buy Pornhub tokens too.

Yeah, I have sex and watch porn. What about it?

[-] vk6flab@lemmy.radio 13 points 14 hours ago

I can't wait to read the explosion of breathless media reports and "expert" commentary discussing the sudden spate of compromised ID systems and the subsequent finger pointing between politicians blaming each other for this entirely foreseeable outcome while the professionals who kept raising concerns have their uncredited "I told you so" moment.

[-] Xerxos@lemmy.ml 11 points 15 hours ago

I would be less concerned (still not buying it, but...) if pedophiles we already know about were prosecuted. How about putting them in jail before looking for more ways to protect children? What about the rest of Epsteins pedo ring? Are we supposed to think that was just the work of two people?

I'm all for protecting children, but we could do so much more even without sacrificing privacy.

[-] LittleBorat3@lemmy.world 15 points 14 hours ago

They never cared about children or the victims or anything they cannot use politically.

Here in the EU they are again trying to have client side scanning called chat control. They said it's against pedos, it's absolutely not.

[-] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

the epstein pedo ring is rich people. they are immune from prosecution, no matter the crime. they are not even really into children, they just fuck them because they can and there is shit you or anyone can do about it.

the only pedos who get prosecuted and are considered criminal, are regular ones without money or connections. because they want to fuck kids out of legit compulsion rather than as a 'fuck you' to society.

I just saw this cover image in the Testing Yet Another App for Lemmy community. What a coincidence—I found it pretty funny when I first saw it, and now I’ve run into it again here, lol.

[-] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 4 points 14 hours ago

I can't wait for the day the whole wide world holds a class action suit to get some of their "ID" money back. "A" sells to "B" sells to "C"...where is my cut?
