No problem. Restore the rule of law and basic human rights for everyone, including getting all the corruption out of government, and The White House in particular, and I, personally, would welcome American booze back on Canadian shelves. Not that I would ever buy any...

I’d also say: he should talk to his administration about their illegal softwood lumber tariffs. The US is keeping numerous Canadian products either out of the US or taking an inappropriate cut before the American consumer gets to see the products. This has been validated in international court. If the US sticks to legitimate, predictable and legal trade with Canada, Canada will be more than happy to increase import trade with the US.

Canada, please, ban it harder!

Oh, YES!!

HARDER!

Don't worry we are doing our best. Quite frequently I see fruit/vegetables on sale at the grocery store, go to pick it up, see it is a product of United States and pass. The shelf will be untouched. People will pay a couple more dollars to not buy American. They had to change the labeling on many items by repacking stuff in Canada to get rid of the made in US label because people weren't buying anything.

Well then I guess you better find a way to do a deal with Canada and maybe stop acting like such a jackass

[-] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

Why am I a jackass for not wanting to give 1 penny to the american govt t all if possible?

[-] Foxer@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 week ago

Misunderstanding there I think, I was referring to Hoekstra, the reply is meant to be a reply directly to him about wanting American booze back on Canadian shelves not you. Sorry for the confusion, my bad

[-] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago

Yup. I am almost 70 and am almost blind, definitely senile and then there’s confusion. Sorry about that.

[-] LostWon@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago

Looks to me like they were talking about (or to, as the case may be) Hoekstra.

[-] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

Thank you. Not sure why I got downvoted. Communication works well thought I find.

[-] RodgeGrabTheCat@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 week ago

Why stock a product that is unlikely to sell?

[-] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago

Can stock it all they want, does not mean peops will buy.

[-] Trex202@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

Bully demands you stop giving them the silent treatment

[-] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

No thanks. Can't stomach fascism.

[-] BC_viper@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

And I want him to be in a shallow grave right now. Guess we don't all get what we want.

[-] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

How 'bout no

[-] puppinstuff@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 week ago
  • Wants something
  • Doesn’t want to negotiate for it

Ladies and gentlemen, the best US diplomacy has to offer us.

[-] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

Also wants to kill free trade with Canada

[-] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 week ago

What the fuck? Since when are buying this shit from them?

“Hoekstra announced Canada will be receiving its first F-35s on Oct. 14 at the Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Ariz. — a massive F-35 training facility. It's the first time that date has been revealed publicly. Canada is contractually committed to buying at least 16 of the aircraft.”

[-] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 week ago

There was this whole thing several years back where the air force put out “bids” to the one company to update our fleet of jets. The order has been cut down to I believe only these 16 jets and than changed to substantially more griphens

[-] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 week ago

If he wants to see US booze for sale in Canada all he needs to do is come to Saskatchewan where our intoxicated joke of a premier put it back up, or go to Alberta where Smith wanted to help the drunks out.

[-] mereo@piefed.ca 7 points 1 week ago

This administration is full of bullies. We will not give in.

[-] grte@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago

I want Hoekstra's tongue on my asshole in the next minute.

Not really but I'm sure you get where I'm coming from.

[-] TerdFerguson@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)
