Let me guess, defaults to on. Everyone around you is being recorded, always. You're saying the quiet part out loud google. Wonder in how many jurisdictions is this illegal surveillance? Governments like to keep that for themselves, but hey, Amazon Alexa got away with it, sadly.

Is this just the public release of what they've been doing to us for years?

We had Glassholes, and we need something similar for Pixel users going forward. Pix-holes doesn’t quite cut it. Any better suggestions?

    Any better suggestions?

Engage with the world as it is instead of trying to boil everything down to a meme or dismissive insult.

Ideally, yes, but there is a time and a place for everything. But a catchphrase for those who buy surveillance communications devices from Google is easier. That way I can save my my pleasant conversations to situations that will actually be pleasant.

Yeah, it's easier. Being mentally lazy is always much easier.

Reality is hard, situations are complex, nuance exists. You throw all of that out the window when your worldview is a series of memes and catchphrases.

Just because it is popular on social media doesn't that mean it's the way to be.

But its not mentally lazy to place people into categories of stereotypes from hardly any interaction at all?

Situations are complex, but people are not complex? You don’t throw that out the window when you judge people from your own prejudices?

Just because it is popular on social media doesn’t mean it’s the way to be.

Might have to reconsider passing on my Pixel to my partner, pretty sure I don't want that in my house...

I've been running DivestOS and now Lineage for a few years.

    Way better than stock.

Pretty sure the camera app is not better then the stock, and it's a selling feature in this case.

Probably not, that's fair point for someone considering switching.

I have found a camera app with way more capability than any stock camera, I think it's open camera (can't remember for sure).

I do find any camera other than stock is a little slower but that's a small price to pay for all the other benefits.

I wonder what is capable to recognise as speech. I wonder if it could be possible to covertly inject, at the very least, what would be very uncomfortable notes.

I already quietly mutter to myself throughout the day. I think I'm going to have to turn it into a fully unhinged ongoing ramble just on the off chance that some random android will pick it up.

Someone's gonna be looking at their notes like: "Grocery list: apple, eggs, milk, the third nitration of TNT happens at around 85C and is extremely exothermic, requiring careful temperature control to avoid runaway reaction and subsequent detonation, sugar, and the fancy cheese"

I would love to start hearing about prompt injection on peoples' phones. Sounds like fun.

A new attack surface to defend.

Looks like I, luckily, won't be affected (Pixel 6, NO I don't like upgrading my phones) and this just confirms my stance that my next phone will be a dumb, possibly flip phone
