I was at a festival during a heat wave in the northern US a few years ago. We're from the south, so it was a normal summer day for us, but people were dropping all over the place.

It was bad enough that after every song, every artists made a "drink water" announcement.

I can understand why France is doing it. If you're not familiar with high temps, you're likely not going to drink enough water and alcohol just makes that worse.

    Safety first! And it's only forbidden on public place, you can drink alcohol at home, in a restaurant, etc.

    Just not in a public place because of the extreme heat... because you would put your health in danger + the public servants going to help you once you faint.

    Better to have them available for real heatwave related issues instead of alcohol related issues
