Without any knowledge of her and based solely on the headline.. She sounds like a fuckwit

[-] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

That's probably related to the fuxkwit statement she made

Based on the number of men I've encountered who say, I was circumcised and I'm fine so you're lying about it not being fine for you, there are indeed a lot of fuckwits in the world.

i feel like people who say that are most often almost completely lacking empathy and compassion. like they cant even imagine how they themselves would feel if they still had their foreskin, even if they know that uncircumcised penises are much more sensitive and the foreskin has tons of nerve endings that they dont have anymore. just talking about it makes me sad :'(

Could be, but given how intensely angry they get about it, I have to think that there's more going on. At a guess, I think part of it is that Man Box (or toxic masculinity, if you prefer) dictates that men don't complain, and that men have to be hyper-competent, especially when it comes to sex, and they can't entertain the notion that anything about an intact penis could be better in any way.

I figure some of them just don't want to admit that they're missing a part of their "manhood." Maybe there's hidden resentment, maybe they don't want to admit their parents made a mistake, but at the end of the day they're hearing that others' penises are "more intact" than theirs, and that might be tough to accept.

I'm speculating to an extent - I don't have a penis, but it's not difficult to imagine the complicated feelings some circumcised men go through upon learning of what they've ~~lost~~ had taken from them, and that there's nothing they can do about it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens to some women who've experienced FGM. They went through a horrific practice and can't come to terms that they might "have less" than others, so they double-down on the idea that what they went through must be okay.

Yeah, what harm is there to removing a child's clitoris with the lid of a rusty bean can and no anaesthetic? Woke has gone mad bro, you can't even ruin a tiny defenceless screaming girl's sexual organs without the P.C. police getting involved.

Choosing neutrality in the face of evil is choosing evil.

I found myself wondering if they don't have Google Scholar in Sierra Leone. Search indicates they do, but there is a caveat, universities rarely have access to full text journals. I'd reckon that is why the harms of FGM are not better known there.

Everyone’s freaking out about this but still supports the religious (or non-religious) right to medically unnecessary circumcision.

Are you the entire world?

For women we call it mutilation, which is a correct description

For men we call it a circumcision

Granted, with women it's usually much much worse, but still, the average opinion of nnale genital mutilation is "but of course, and you mean circumcision!"

Circumcision is a form of mutilation.

Squares are a form of rectangles.

I agree with you though the comparison of circumcisions to squares is... A little weird? :)
