Xbox was so great when it launched. Thanks for bringing us decent length controller cables, hard drives, and Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay 👌

Nowadays, uhh thanks for making an unnecessary media center I guess 🤷‍♀️

Hard disagree. The OG Xbox was very rough around the edges. There's a reason the 360 did miles better.

Nice he admitted that, now he should resign and let someone else do better

Xbox was never meant to make anything of quality. Xbox was just a Trojan horse to trap customers into a Microsoft walled garden.

A bunch of greedy no talent monopolists whose only skill is using a lot of money to buy out competitors are running Microsoft.

how are you supposed to trap customers without quality bait?

Microsoft sees quality that someone else made and it buys it. It works for a bit but they don’t know how to perpetuate quality.

Sure. But that's different than "Xbox was never meant to make anything of quality." Their intention is clearly to make quality things, they have just been sucking at it.

In reality, I am sure that the executives making financial decisions have no clue what a quality game is.

They see a game that sells well and that is what they consider quality.

Once a studio sells out to a larger one there should be no expectation of future quality or innovation from that studio. The studio’s new mandate becomes “make more of what sold and don’t change anything” which is pretty much a coffin for that franchise.

You're not wrong but is that not the entire console business in a nutshell? Getting a console is essentially signing up for a closed platform

I think the difference is, Sony and Nintendo build their exclusives through close support, while Microsoft and Epic have just tried buying them in.

Amazon and Google have essentially tried the same thing, and gave up because pouring money in isn’t a full business plan.

Nintendo has a very reliable and steady amount of high quality AAA and AA games that they make for their console.

Sony used to have a very reliable quality AAA and indie games on their console.

    Microsoft had Halo and Forza.

Yeah and whos fault except yours is that, Satan Nutella? Huh? Who could have possibly changed things to have this be any different? Who is responsible for what the company as a whole does?!

So... your complaint is that you're really bad at selling a product that has a high demand... ?

  • I know I'm gonna say something batshit crazy but here I go anyways: Have you tried dramatic pause listening to your customers to gasp know what do they want?

Shocking, I know. But it might just tell you why the fuck is xbox performing as a 2026 virtual boy.

Maybe if you didn’t let XBOX run like a scitso 10 year old on drugs it would be in a better place.

That's an insane thing to say, especially considering most people streaming and making videos about games are probably not using an Xbox to do it, let alone making any money doing it.

Bet he didn’t like all the praise Sharma got so now he has to put his mark on the project. Bet the decision to shutter studios came from him out of the blue. Sharma was supposed to be the fall gal. Xbox was supposed to be her glass cliff.

This belongs in a "Leopards Ate My Face" comm. They jacked up the price of the Xbox. They doubled the price of GamePass Ultimate, and most games added to it are just shovelware trash.

Here's a solution: Add Steam to GamePass Ultimate. What I'm saying is, for $23 a month or whatever it's down to now, you can use Steam and play all your Steam games that will run on XSX (which should be most of them since it's an x86-64 platform running a bastardised version of Windows). So you can get a game dirt cheap and play it on Xbox, but you have to pay Xbox monthly. You will still save money! Especially if you have a large Steam library. And not just Steam — add GOG and maybe Epic as well. So basically the platforms that have free games all the time. That would massively boost the value of GamePass, and since an XSX is still cheaper than a gaming PC, would offset the rising price of the console.

But who knows, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Let the Steam Machine come out and eat their lunch.

Why would I pay monthly to play games I bought and can play without paying monthly? Unless the hardware is just subscription only - but that can fuck off too.

Because unless you're dropping $1500+ for a gaming rig, you can't play them. If you have a gaming PC, it wouldn't be a good deal for you. If you don't have a gaming rig, but you have an Xbox, you could, with my idea, take advantage of Steam's deeper sales and giveaways, and be able to play them on the Xbox.

If you buy a lot of games, you save a lot of money by buying from Steam/GOG, so it would be worth it. Especially for those of us who don't have gaming rigs.
